Inpatient admission definition

Inpatient admission means a person who has been admitted to a hospital for bed occupancy for purposes of receiving inpatient hospital services. A person is considered an inpatient if formally admitted by the hospital as an inpatient by physician order with the expectation that the individual would remain at least overnight and occupy a bed.
