Illness or Injury definition

Illness or Injury. As defined by Education Code Section 44043.5(a)(1) “catastrophic illness” or “injury” means an illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the employee’s family which incapacity requires the employee to take time off from work for an extended period of time for that family member, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because her or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off.
Illness or Injury means illness or injury other than illness or injury that renders a person totally incapacitated by physical or mental infirmity from maintaining himself or herself;
Illness or Injury. Catastrophic illness or injury means an illness that is expected to incapacitate the bargaining unit member for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the unit member’s family which incapacity requires the unit member to take time off from work for an extended period of time to care for that family member, and taking such extended time off from work creates a financial hardship for the unit member because they have exhausted all of their sick leave and other paid time off. Catastrophic illness or injury does not include elective surgery, normal pregnancy, worker’s compensation, disabilities resulting from the current use ofalcohol or drugs, intentionally self-inflicted injuries, or normal illness such as colds, flu, allergies, headaches, etc.

Examples of Illness or Injury in a sentence

  • We will reimburse You, if shown on the Declarations Page, for the Covered Expenses that occur during the Coverage Period subject to Policy limits and exclusion including, but not limited to, Coinsurance, Deductible and Annual Limit for physical examination; including costs and/or fees for telephone consultation; to diagnose a current covered Illness or Injury.

  • The deductible, coinsurance or copayment as applicable to a non-specialist physician visit for treatment of an Illness or Injury will apply to the Orthotic Appliance or Prosthetic Appliance.

  • Except as otherwise specified in this Contract, an Employee who, due to Illness or Injury, cannot perform any duty of his or her occupation or any occupation for which he or she is, or may be, suited by education, training and experience, and is not, in fact, engaged in any occupation for wage or profit.

  • The deductible, coinsurance or copayment as applicable to a [physician visit to a non-Specialist Doctor] [PCP visit] for treatment of an Illness or Injury will apply to the Orthotic Appliance or Prosthetic Appliance.

More Definitions of Illness or Injury

Illness or Injury. An illness/injury requiring a minimum of ten (10) consecutive days absence from the job. Majority: Three (3) members are required for the Administrative Committee to conduct business.
Illness or Injury means physical harm to an employee caused by accident or disease.

Examples include life threatening injury or illness; cancer, AIDS, heart surgery, stroke, etc.

Illness or Injury means a physical or mental health prob- lem that has been diagnosed by a licensed physician, dentist, optometrist, or audiologist.
