ILLNESS AND DISABILITY. 8.0 At the beginning of each school year each teacher shall be credited with ten (10) days of leave, the unused portion of which shall accumulate from year to year to one hundred fifty-five (155) days pro-rated based on the teacher’s regularly scheduled work day/week. The leave days may be taken by a teacher for the following reasons and subject to the following conditions:

ILLNESS AND DISABILITY. A. A sick leave allowance is hereby provided for absence from work caused by illness or physical disability of the teacher. At the beginning of each school year each teacher represented by the Association will be credited with the unused sick leave reserve accumulated by him/her in prior years and each first year teacher will be credited with five (5) sick leave days. Additional sick leave will be credited to his/her account at the rate of one (1) day for each calendar month in which he/she teaches in the system, subject to a maximum of eleven (11) days per year. The teacher may use all or part of his/her leave to recover from his/her own illness or disability which shall include childbirth and complications of pregnancy. The Superintendent may request that the teacher provide the Board with doctor verification if said leave exceeds five (5) consecutive days and will provide similar verification upon request thereafter. A teacher suffering a loss of pay as a result of having less accumulated sick leave than the length of his illness, will be reimbursed at the end of the school year for such loss as his sick leave allowance accumulates; subject to the limitation that the right to such reimbursement terminates at the close of each school year. If a first year teacher fails to earn the five (5) sick leave days credited to him/her in the aforesaid contractual provision and uses the credited sick leave days before he/she has earned the same and does not continue with his/her employment in the District, said teacher shall be obligated to reimburse the school district for all or that portion of the used sick leave days that have not been earned.
ILLNESS AND DISABILITY. A. At the beginning of each school year each full-time employee shall be credited with ten (10) staff absence days. The unused portion of such allowance shall accumulate from year to year up to an unlimited number.

Each bargaining unit member shall be advanced two (2) sick days on their date of hire, and on July 1st of each year thereafter, and then shall be credited one (1) sick day per month thereafter for each month worked. Sick days may accumulate to one hundred fifty (150) days. Unused leave from the preceding year shall be credited on July 1.
ILLNESS AND DISABILITY. A. Sick leave credits shall be earned during each school year in the following manner: First and second years of service: 1 per month to a maximum of 10 Each succeeding year of service: 1.5 per month to a maximum of 15 The unused days from prior years shall be carried forward in each case. The maximum credit bank for each employee shall be equal to one school year. Accrued sick leave credits revert to the Board upon termination of employment. Any deductions for unearned sick leave will be at the per diem base salary rate. Employees may take sick time in half-day increments.
ILLNESS AND DISABILITY. Section A. Any teacher who is absent because of an injury or disease compensable under Michigan's Xxxxxxx'x Compensation Law shall receive from the Board the difference between the allowance under Xxxxxxx'x Compensation Law and his regular salary for the duration of the contract year with no subtraction of sick leave.

However, there will be no transference of any accumulated unused sick leave days except for those circumstances specified in paragraph 4.3 F to a sick leave bank. Furthermore, there will be no payment of any portion of any unused leave days at the time of release, resignation, of any teacher. The leave days may be taken by a teacher for the following reasons and subject to the following conditions:

Sick days without loss of pay shall accrue at the rate of one and three-tenths (l-3/l0ths) days per month or thirteen (l3) days per year for all teachers, except teachers in their first year of employment in the School District shall accrue sick days at the rate of one and one-half (l-l/2) days per month or fifteen (l5) days per year. The maximum aggregate accumulation shall be two hundred forty-eight (248) days. The accrual for the school year will normally be credited to the teacher's account at the beginning of each school year in September.
