EUR definition

EUR or “euro” means the lawful currency of the Member States of the European Union which adopt or have adopted it as their currency in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union or their succeeding treaties.

  • Rights or assets held outside of Spain (e.g., Shares or cash held in a foreign bank or brokerage account) with a value in excess of a certain threshold (currently EUR 50,000) per type of right or asset (e.g., Shares, cash, etc.) as of December 31, must be reported on an annual tax return.

  • After the assets have been reported, the subsequent reporting obligation will only apply if their value increases by more than specified amount (currently EUR 20,000) as of each subsequent December 31, or if the assets already declared are being transferred or the bank accounts are being closed.
