ESIA definition

ESIA means environmental and social impact assessment, the evaluation of the potential environmental and social risks and impacts of activities under the Project, to be prepared by the Recipient in accordance with the provisions of Section I D of Schedule 2 to this Agreement and to include an EMP, as the same may be amended from time to time with the prior approval of the Association.
ESIA means the Borrower’s environmental and social impact assessment for the Project provided to the Bank on March 28, 2010, setting forth the matters to be addressed in the ESMP regarding mitigating, monitoring and institutional measures to be taken during the implementation and operation of the Project to offset or reduce adverse environmental impacts to levels acceptable to the Bank.

  • Appropriate assessments conducted where required (i.e., Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for High risk projects and some level of social and environmental assessment for Moderate risk projects as identified through SESP).

More Definitions of ESIA

ESIA means the document prepared and adopted by the Recipient containing the analysis of and mitigating measures for potential environmental and social impacts of an individual activity to be implemented under the Project, as and when required by the ESMF (as hereinafter defined).
ESIA means any environmental and social impact assessment to be prepared by the Recipient for a specific Project activity under the ESMF, in each case identifying and assessing the potential environmental and social impacts of a proposed Project activity; and measures that endeavor to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and sexual exploitation and abuse, and to handle those events and report them to the relevant authorities and to the Association should they occur, as such ESIA may be amended from time to time with the prior written agreement of the Association.
ESIA means the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment developed in 2014, and as currently being amended in 2016, for the Amulsar Gold Project to conform to the requirements of the 2012 International Finance Corporation Performance Standards and the 2008 European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Performance Requirements and other financial institutions that are signatories to the Equator Principles;
ESIA or “Environmental and Social Impact Assessment” means the environmental impact and social assessment for the transmission and distribution lines under the Project dated January 2010, describing the set of mitigation, enhancement, monitoring, and institutional measures to be taken during implementation of the Project to mitigate adverse environmental and social impacts, offset them, or reduce them to acceptable levels, or to enhance positive impacts; as the said environmental impact and social assessment may be amended and/or supplemented from time to time with the prior written concurrence of the Association.
ESIA means the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment to be carried out by the KenGen for Part C of the Project, by the KPLC for Parts D.1 and D.2 of the Project, and referred to in Section III.1 (a) (i) of Schedule 4 to this Agreement, and for Part B.1 (d) by the MOE;
ESIA means the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment prepared and adopted by the Recipient, dated January 2007 [for the Korogwe-Mkumbara-Same trunk road], dated September 2008 (for the Arusha-Minjingu trunk road), dated March 2009 (for Bukoba Airport), and dated November 2009 (for the Kigoma and Tabora airports, respectively), defining the set of mitigation, enhancement, monitoring, and institutional measures to be taken during implementation of the Project to eliminate any adverse environmental and social impacts, offset them, reduce them to acceptable levels, or to enhance positive impacts of the Project activities; and “ESIAs” means, collectively, all or several such assessments.
