Environmental Health and Safety definition

Environmental Health and Safety. (EHS) Laws” means all applicable environmental and similar Laws, directives, rules, ordinances, codes, guidelines, regulations, governmental, administrative or judicial orders or decrees or other legal requirements of any kind, whether currently in existence or hereafter promulgated, enacted, adopted or amended, relating to (a) safety (including occupational health and safety); conservation, preservation or protection of human health, drinking water, natural resources, biota and the environment; (b) the introduction of any chemical substances, products or finished articles into the stream of commerce; (c) the imposition of any discharge levy or other economic instrument to prevent or reduce discharge of pollutants; (d) the conduct of environmental impact assessment in connection with the design, development and operation of any facility or project; (e) the notification, classifications, registrations and labeling of new chemical substances; or (f) the generation, use, storage, handling, treatment, transportation or disposal of waste, including any matters related to releases and threatened releases of hazardous materials.
Environmental Health and Safety. Claim shall mean any administrative, regulatory or judicial action, suit, claim, notice of non-compliance or violation, notice of liability or potential liability, proceeding relating in any way to any of the Environmental Health and Safety Laws, any Environmental Health and Safety Permit, any Regulated Substances, any Contamination, the performance of any Remedial Action or otherwise arising from alleged injury or threat of injury to the environment. Environmental Health and Safety Complaint shall mean any written notice or complaint by any Person or Official Body setting forth allegations relating to or a cause of action arising under any Environmental Health and Safety Laws for personal injury or property damage, natural resource damage, contribution or indemnity for the costs associated with the performance of a Remedial Action, civil or administrative penalties, criminal fines or penalties, or declaratory or equitable relief arising under any Environmental Health and Safety Laws or any order, notice of violation, citation, subpoena, request for information or other written notice or demand of any type issued by an Official Body pursuant to any Environmental Health and Safety Laws. Environmental Health and Safety Laws shall mean, collectively, any federal, state, local or foreign statute, Law (including, but not limited to Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (“CERCLA”), 42 U.S.C. § 9601 et seq., the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (“RCRA”), 42 U.S.C. § 6901 et seq., the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act, 49 U.S.C. § 1801 et seq., the Toxic Substances Control Act, 15 U.S.C. § 2601 et seq., the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, 33 U.S.C. § 1251 et seq., the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act, 42 U.S.C. §§ 300f-300j, the Federal Air Pollution Control Act, 42 U.S.C. § 7401 et seq., the Oil Pollution Act, 33 U.S.C. § 2701 et seq., the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, 7 U.S.C. §§ 136 to 136y, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 29 U.S.C. §§ 651 et seq. the Mine Safety and Health Act, 30 U.S.C. §§ 801 et seq., the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act 30 U.S.C. §§ 1201 et seq., the Atomic Energy Act, 42 U.S.C. § 2011 et seq., the National Historic Preservation Act, 16 U.S.C. § 470 et seq., the Endangered Species Act, 16 U.S.C. § 1531 et seq., the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, 16 U.S.C. §§ 1271-1278, each as amended, or any equivalent state or local statute, and any amendments thereto), cod...
Environmental Health and Safety or “EHS” means the University office that reviews applicable provincial and municipal regulations related to food safety and communicates their implication for on campus events where food is sold or served.

  • If such a review does not resolve the matter, it will be referred to the University’s Environmental Health and Safety staff.

  • The letter shall include an explanation of the employee's right to consult with the University's Environmental Health and Safety Department to receive information regarding any workplace hazards during pregnancy.

Related to Environmental Health and Safety

  • EPA means the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

  • Hazardous air pollutant means any air pollutant listed as a hazardous air pollutant pursuant to Section 112(b) of the FCAA.

  • Remediation waste means all solid and hazardous wastes, and all media (including groundwater, surface water, soils, and sediments) and debris that are managed for implementing cleanup.
