Eligibility for Sick Leave. Subject to the provisions herein, employees and officers (hereinafter called "employees") who are absent from their duties because of illness or disability are eligible for sick leave.

Eligibility for Sick Leave. An employee shall be eligible for sick leave for any period of absence from employment which is due to illness, bodily injury, pregnancy and post natal care, exposure to contagious disease, and attendance upon members of the immediate family defined as husband, wife and dependent children. The employee must attempt to make other arrangements within a reasonable time for the attendance upon members of the immediate family.
Eligibility for Sick Leave with pay shall begin as soon after regular appointment as any sick leave credit has been earned.
Eligibility for Sick Leave. Sick leave is an authorized absence from duty, withpay, granted employees in full-time regular positions. Sick leave is not a privilege which an employee may use at the employee's discretion but shall be used only in case ofnecessity and actual need as outlined below. Newemployees shall not be allowedto utilize accumulated sick leaveuntiltheyhave been employed continuously for six (6) months. All full-time employees shall accumulate one (1) day of sick leave per month to a maximum accumulation of720 hours of sick time. On December 31st of each year, any employee with over 720 accrued sick leave hours shall have those hours in excess of 720 converted to and deposited into the employee's Minnesota State Retirement Health Care Savings Plan.(MNRHCSP) The amount paid to the employee in all cases shall be equal to the employee's base rate ofpay times the number ofexcess hours according to the schedule listed below. The deposit shall occur before January 1 5th of the following year. Employees with less than 10 years service with the City: 50% ofhours in excess of720 Employees with 10- 14 years ofservice with the City: 60% ofhours in excess of720 Employees with 15 - 19 years of service with the City: 70% ofhours in excess of720 Employees with 20 - 24 years of service with the City: 80% ofhours in excess of720 Employees with 25 - 29 years of service with the City: 90% ofhours in excess of 720 Employees with 30 years or more service with the City: 1 00% ofhours in excess of720 Employees who separate from employment with accwnulated sickleave shall have those hours paid to the employee at the years ofservice conversion ratio and the employee's rate ofpay atthe time of separation. This payment shall be subject to mandatory State and Federal deductions as applicable. Sick leave shall not be earned by any employee during a leave of absence without pay, or time otherwise not worked or paid.
