Educational Leave of Absence definition

Educational Leave of Absence means a leave of absence, whether paid or unpaid, from job duties on a part-time or full-time basis for the purpose of advancing an employee’s abilities or supplementing professional or skill training.

Examples of Educational Leave of Absence in a sentence

  • Employees with four (4) years or more of continuous service with the Employer shall be entitled to an Educational Leave of Absence for up to one (1) year.

  • Employees with four (4) years or more of continuous service with the Employer shall be entitled to an Educational Leave of Absence for up to one (1) year without gain or loss of seniority as of the time the employee leaves.

  • An approved Educational Leave of Absence permits a student to be absent from the University for a specified number of semesters (one semester minimum; one calendar year maximum) while authorizing the student to return and continue to study under catalog requirements that applied prior to the absence.

  • Employees with four (4) years or more of continuous service with the Employer shall be entitled to an Educational Leave of Absence for up to one (1) year and shall accumulate seniority.

  • Furthermore, without an approved Educational Leave of Absence, graduation requirements may have changed during the intervening time; the program of study may have been closed to non-residents; or other significant changes may have occurred.

  • For school out of the area, the employee must apply for an Educational Leave of Absence to the County Commissioners sixty days prior to the requested leave.

  • It is the responsibility of the Department Director/Manager to notify Human Resources in writing within one (1) working day when the nurse returns from an Educational Leave of Absence.

  • It is the responsibility of the nurse to contact their Department Director/Manager at least four (4) weeks prior to the expiration of an Educational Leave of Absence.

  • The granting of an Educational Leave of Absence, regardless of whether the nurse was in a paid or unpaid status, does not guarantee return to employment or to the nurse’s original position or schedule.

  • Nurses returning from an Educational Leave of Absence may apply for any available vacancy for which they are qualified.

  • Approved Leave of Absence means a leave of absence that has been approved by the applicable Participating Company in such a manner as the Board may determine from time to time.

  • Leave of Absence means absent from work with permission.

  • Medically Necessary Leave of Absence means a Leave of Absence by a full-time student Dependent at a postsecondary educational institution that:

  • maternity or paternity leave of absence means, for Plan Years beginning after December 31, 1984, an absence from work for any period by reason of the Employee's pregnancy, birth of the Employee's child, placement of a child with the Employee in connection with the adoption of such child, or any absence for the purpose of caring for such child for a period immediately following such birth or placement. For this purpose, Hours of Service shall be credited for the computation period in which the absence from work begins, only if credit therefore is necessary to prevent the Employee from incurring a 1-Year Break in Service, or, in any other case, in the immediately following computation period. The Hours of Service credited for a "maternity or paternity leave of absence" shall be those which would normally have been credited but for such absence, or, in any case in which the Administrator is unable to determine such hours normally credited, eight (8) Hours of Service per day. The total Hours of Service required to be credited for a "maternity or paternity leave of absence" shall not exceed 501.

  • Authorized leave of absence means an unpaid, temporary cessation from active employment with the Employer pursuant to an established nondiscriminatory policy, whether occasioned by illness, military service, or any other reason.

  • Military caregiver leave means leave taken to care for a covered servicemember with a serious injury or illness.

  • FMLA Leave means a leave of absence, which the Company is required to extend to an Employee under the provisions of the FMLA.

  • maternity leave means a period during which a woman is absent from work because she is pregnant or has given birth to a child, and at the end of which she has a right to return to work either under the terms of her contract of employment or under Part 8 of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • Personal Leave means leave provided for:

  • paternity leave means a period of absence from work on leave by virtue of section 80A or 80B of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • Medical leave means leave of up to a total of 12 workweeks in a 12-month period because of an employee’s own serious health condition that makes the employee unable to work at all or unable to perform any one or more of the essential functions of the position of that employee. The term “essential functions” is defined in Government Code section 12926. “Medical leave” does not include leave taken for an employee’s pregnancy disability, as defined in (n) below, except as specified below in section 11093(c)(1).

  • FMLA means the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, as amended.

  • parental bereavement leave means leave under section 80EA of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • Parental leave means leave to bond and to care for a newborn child after birth or to bond and care for a child after placement for adoption or xxxxxx care, for a period of up to sixteen (16) weeks after the birth or placement.

  • Intermittent Leave means leave taken in separate blocks of time due to a single qualifying reason.

  • Leave of Absence Without Pay means to be absent from duty with permission but without pay.

  • income-related employment and support allowance means an income-related allowance under Part 1 of the Welfare Reform Act 2007;

  • adoption leave means a period of absence from work on ordinary or additional adoption leave by virtue of section 75A or 75B of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • Bereavement Leave means "a leave of absence granted to an employee upon a death occurring in the employee's Immediate Family.”

  • Family leave means any leave taken by an employee from

  • Paid sick leave – means paid leave under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act.

  • Garden Leave means any period in respect of which the Company has exercised its rights under clause 16.1;

  • Military Leave means leave subject to reemployment rights under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, as amended from time to time.

  • Probationary Employee means an employee who has not yet successfully completed the probationary period on initial appointment.
