Directed Research definition

Directed Research projects shall mean projects within the research area, but not part of the Center, the terms and conditions of which will be handled via a separate research agreement.
Directed Research means the research activities which: (i) are funded by Syngenta pursuant to this Agreement, and (ii) are not intended to result in a product, per se.
Directed Research means the programmes of scientific research funded by the Directed Research Funding and which are to be carried out by the Institute at the Premises in accordance with the Directed Research Workplan;

Examples of Directed Research in a sentence

  • The cost of the Directed Research and the Project Research to be funded by Syngenta shall be calculated based on the number of FTEs allocated to such work at the following rates for the 2003 calendar year: *Confidential Treatment Requested $[…***…] per annum for FTEs engaged in Project Research (the “Project Research Rate”); and $[…***…] per annum for FTEs engaged in Directed Research (the “Directed Research Rate”).

  • During any Year in which FTE Funding is less than $20.665 million as permitted under this Agreement, Diversa shall be entitled to decrease the Staffing Level ratably with the amount of the decrease in FTE Funding, in proportion to the percentage of FTEs allocated to Project Research and Directed Research.

  • Diversa shall cooperate with Syngenta in adapting the skill set of Diversa’s FTEs to facilitate reasonable flexibility in the funding of research and development activities (but not “pass-through” development activities which would not involve Diversa employees (i.e. buying in or subcontracting for development capabilities)) of Directed Research and Project Research.

  • The Project Research Rate and the Directed Research Rate for each FTE shall be CPI adjusted on the annual anniversary of the Effective Date, applying the published CPI figure as of October 31 of the prior year, using 2002 as the base year; provided, however, that in no event shall the Project Research Rate or the Directed Research Rate be reduced.

  • If FTE Funding is greater than $20.665 million during any Year during the Research Term, Diversa shall increase the Staffing Level ratably with the amount of such increase to carry out the Research Program unless otherwise mutually agreed by the Parties, in proportion to the percentage of FTEs allocated to Project Research and Directed Research.

  • Diversa shall not be obligated to conduct any research proposed by Syngenta as Directed Research if such research requires use, in any material respect, of any proprietary technology or intellectual property of Diversa relating to molecular evolution and/or microbe or microbial gene discovery technologies, except as agreed to by Diversa in its sole discretion.

  • Diversa will diligently conduct research and development activities pursuant to the Research Plan as set forth herein with the primary objective of conducting Project Research to identify and develop Syngenta Products in the Syngenta Exclusive Field and of conducting Directed Research for Syngenta.

  • At a minimum, each Research Plan will include: (i) a general overview and timetable for the Project Research and the Directed Research and appropriate resources and budgets for such research during the next Year, and (ii) a preliminary and non-binding plan for research activities to be conducted in the subsequent Year which shall include, without limitation, staffing and resource allocations.

  • Subject to other conditions of this Agreement, at Syngenta’s request, Diversa shall diligently conduct Directed Research to improve the Platform Technology, to provide services using the Platform Technology, and other research services as Syngenta may otherwise reasonably request and Diversa may agree to undertake.

Related to Directed Research

  • Sponsored research means research, training, and other sponsored activities as defined by the federal Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget:

  • Applied research means translational research conducted with the objective of attaining a specific benefit or to solve a practical problem, or other research activity that seeks to utilize, synthesize, or apply existing knowledge, information, or resources to the resolution of a specified problem, question, or issue, with high potential for commercial application to create jobs in this state.

  • Research means a methodical investigation into a subject.

  • Basic research means any original investigation for the advancement of scientific or technological knowledge that will enhance the research capacity of this state in a way that increases the ability to attract to or develop companies, jobs, researchers, or students in this state.

  • scientific research means any activity in the field of natural or applied science for the extension of knowledge;

  • Research Analyst means any individual employed by Loomis Sayles who has been designated as a Research Analyst or Research Associate by Loomis Sayles. A person is considered a Research Analyst only as to those Covered Securities which he or she is assigned to cover and about which he or she issues research reports to other Investment Persons or otherwise makes recommendations to Investment Persons beyond publishing their research. As to other securities, he or she is simply an Access Person.

  • Research Use shall have the meaning given in Section 2.2.2 of this Agreement.

  • Development Activities means those activities which are normally undertaken for the development, construction, repair, renovation, rehabilitation or conversion of buildings for residential purposes, including the acquisition of property;

  • Development Program means the implementation of the development plan.

  • Development Team means the entities and professionals assembled to develop and manage the Project, typically including the Applicant, Owner, Developer(s), Co-Developer(s) and general partner or any other related entities in which the Developer or Co-Developer has an identity of interest or a Controlling Interest.

  • Commercialization or “Commercialize” means activities directed to marketing, promoting, research and development as required, manufacturing for sale, offering for sale, distributing, importing or selling a product, including sub-licensing or sub-contracting of these activities.

  • Research Project means a discrete scientific endeavor to answer a research question or a set of research questions related to medical marijuana and is required for a medical marijuana research license.

  • Initial Development Plan has the meaning set forth in Section 3.2(b).

  • Research Program Term has the meaning set forth in Section 2.2.

  • Commercial Development Plan means the written commercialization plan attached as Appendix E.

  • Manufacturing operation means a process in which materials are changed, converted, or transformed into a different state or form from which they previously existed and includes refining materials, assembling parts, and preparing raw materials and parts by mixing, measuring, blending, or otherwise committing such materials or parts to the manufacturing process. "Manufacturing operation" does not include packaging.

  • Collaboration Know-How means all Know-How conceived, discovered, developed or otherwise made by or on behalf of a particular Party or any of its Affiliates or permitted subcontractors of any of the foregoing (solely or jointly by or on behalf of a particular Party or any of its Affiliates or permitted subcontractors of any of the foregoing) in the course of [***].

  • Development Activity means any activity defined as Development which will necessitate a Floodplain Development Permit. This includes buildings, structures, and non-structural items, including (but not limited to) fill, bulkheads, piers, pools, docks, landings, ramps, and erosion control/stabilization measures.

  • Research Budget has the meaning set forth in Section 3.2.

  • Development Works means the external development works and internal development works on immovable property;

  • Research Program has the meaning set forth in Section 2.1.

  • Research Plan shall have the meaning set forth in Section 2.1.

  • Principal Investigator or “PI” is the person, designated by University, and accepted by Sponsor, who is directly responsible for executing, directing, overseeing and reporting a Sponsored Project under this Agreement.

  • Research Results means any technical result acquired based on the Collaborative Research, including, but not limited to, any invention, idea, design, copyrightable work and know-how which relates to the purpose of the Collaborative Research.

  • Development Data means any and all research data, pharmacology data, chemistry, manufacturing and control data, preclinical data, clinical data and all other documentation (including raw data) compiled, developed or generated with respect to the Compound or Product.

  • Development Services “Target Market”; “Investment Areas”; and “Targeted Populations” have the meanings ascribed to such terms in 12 C.F.R. 1805.104.
