Demotions. By mutual agreement, a grievance falling into any of these categories may be placed into the expedited arbitration process.
Demotions. An employee requesting a voluntary demotion from a higher to a lower-rated job, and who is subsequently demoted to the lower-rated job, shall go to the increment step of the lower-rated job commensurate with her/his overall seniority, provided she/he has experience in or possesses the ability to perform the duties of the lower-rated job without a training period. For the purpose of this Article and in the event of involuntary demotion, an employee who does not have prior experience or ability to qualify as above, shall remain at the increment step immediately preceding the step indicated by length of overall seniority, for a period not to exceed three (3) months.

Demotions. Demotion, both in pay and to a lower classification, may be used as a form of discipline when discharge is not warranted or when the appointing power believes that the employee has the potential for correcting conduct. Such action shall be subject to the rules governing demotions.
Demotions. (a) Employees may be required to temporarily perform work normally performed by employees in lower grouped jobs provided such employees suffer no reduction in salary. It is the intent of this clause that the Employer will not assign such work in a discriminatory manner.
