Conditionally restricted means that only specially li- censed individuals will be allowed to harvest the clams. Due to elevated levels of bacterial contamination – even during dry weather periods – all clams harvested must be “cleansed” (depurated) at the MarineFisheries Shellfish Purification Plant on Plum Island, Newburyport.
