The Comptroller and Auditor General may examine such documents as they may reasonably require which are owned, held or otherwise within the control of the Supplier and may require the Supplier to provide such oral and/or written explanations as they consider necessary.
The Contractor and its Personnel shall permit the Comptroller and Auditor General (and his appointed representatives) access free of charge during normal business hours on reasonable notice to all such documents (including computerised documents and data) for the purposes of his financial audit of the Authority and for carrying out examinations into the economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which the Authority has used its resources.
This clause does not constitute a requirement or agreement for the examination, certification or inspection of the accounts of the Contractor by the Comptroller and Auditor General under section 6(3)(d) of the National Audit Act of 1983.
The parties recognise that the Comptroller and Auditor General may, in pursuance of its functions under the Exchequer and Audit Xxxxxxxxxx Xxx 0000, the National Audit Xxx 0000 and the Government Resources and Accounts Xxx 0000, disclose information which it has obtained pursuant to those acts and which a party to this Contract would not be able to disclose otherwise than under this Clause 14.
External scrutiny of the appropriation accounts and related matters is provided by the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) and ultimately by the Oireachtas via the Public Accounts Committee.
