Compensation for Employees. Employees shall receive compensation at the biweekly or hourly rate for the range and step or flat rate assigned to the class in which they are employed.

Effective the first day of the first full payroll period following adoption of this memorandum of understanding by the Board of Supervisors [effective, December 29, 2023], the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 8.00%. Effective June 28, 2024, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 5.00%. Effective June 27, 2025, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 4.00%.

Effective the start of the first payroll period commencing on or after July 1, 2015, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Offer unit shall be increased by 3.0%. However, the increase shall not be implemented until implementation of unit member payment of the 100% employee normal retirement contribution set forth in Article XXI, Sections 6 and 7, below.

Effective the first payroll period in July 2017, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 1.5%. Effective the first payroll period in January 2018, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 1.5%. Effective the first payroll period in July 2018, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 1.5%. Effective the first payroll period in January 2019, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 1.5%. A one-time non-salary base building lump sum payment will be made to each employee in the bargaining unit equal to 0.5% of the employee’s yearly base salary as of the day before the BOS adoption of the 2016-2019 memorandum of understanding. The lump sum will be paid to each employee within 60 days of the date on which the Board of Supervisors adopts this memorandum of understanding. Employees on unpaid status at the time the payment is dispersed will receive the payment when the employee returns to paid status.
Compensation for Employees. A. In addition to the primary responsibility of the Board to determine classification and salary ranges, the Board may, upon recommendation of the Director, specify that the incumbent of a particular position shall occupy any step on the salary range.

Effective July 2, 2021, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 3.5%. Effective July 1, 2022, the unadjusted base hourly salary rate for each range and step assigned to each class within the Peace Officer and Supervising Peace Officer unit shall be increased by 3.5%.
