Class Seniority means the length of continuous regular and probationary service with the Employer from the date an employee was first appointed to a position with the Employer in a class title covered by this Agreement. This Section 18.1.3 is intended to mean that for any person, no matter what the person’s prior experience or how hired by the District, the person’s class seniority starts at zero the day of appointment to a School District position in that title and begins to be calculated from that date. An employee’s Class Seniority does not revert to zero following recall from an Employer initiated layoff within the twenty-four (24)-month recall rights period specified in 18.4. This definition of class seniority would be used for all layoff decisions.

Class Seniority means the date of appointment in writing to a position class. Such seniority to become effective retroactively after the completion of a probationary period of six (6) months. An appointment may be to either a permanent or temporary position.

Examples of Class Seniority in a sentence

Time-in- Class Seniority within the employee's work site will be used for scheduling vacations and overtime.
Class Seniority is time spent working within a single classification.
Job Class Seniority shall be defined by date of hire within the employee’s given job classification, and then hospital-wide seniority shall be defined by date of hire at the hospital.
Layoffs for periods exceeding five (5) days shall apply first on the basis of Class Seniority.
In changes for Stationary Engineers, merit and being appointment shall be made of the applicant highest on the 3rd Seniority List, or if no applications have been received 3rd Class Engineers, of the applicant highest on the 4th Class Seniority List.

Class Seniority shall be lost when City Seniority is lost, or when Foremen - Outside Seniority is lost, or when an employee is demoted due to discipline or incompetence, or when an employee voluntarily accepts a classification at a lower pay level; provided however, that in the event an employee has accepted a position in a lower classification because the employee's former position has become redundant or because the City has indicated the position may become redundant, the employee shall retain Class Seniority in the former position.

Class Seniority for supervisors transferred from the Technical Colleges shall be July 1, 1995. If a supervisor appeals their initial classification and their class is changed, their class seniority shall be changed accordingly. A Technical College supervisor who transfers, demotes or promotes to another class or Appointing Authority after July 1, 1995, shall have class seniority in the new class determined in accordance with the Master Agreement. Supervisors who are hired or appointed after July 1, 1995, shall have their classification seniority determined in accordance with the Master Agreement.

Class Seniority means the number of continuous months of qualifying service in a class beginning with the latest date of hiring or transfer into a class; provided, however, when an employee remains in the same class, but is transferred to another location as a result of the application of Article 8, Promotion and Transfer, as distinguished from a reallocation of the work force, the employee's class seniority shall date from the employee's transfer.

Class Seniority. (Entry Date) means the date that the employee began working in their current job classification. Where two (2) or more employees have the same seniority dates for determining job rights, then seniority shall be based on the highest number of the last four digits of the employees' social security numbers with the highest number being 9999 and the lowest number 0000. SHIFT TRADES‌ Qualified employees in the same work area and the same classification may mutually agree to trade a shift within the established schedule as long as no Overtime is created. Such trade must be mutually agreed upon in writing by the employees and request for approval must be given to the supervisor prior to the effective date of the trade. Such approval shall not unreasonably be denied. Department or Division-specific shift trade procedures are in Appendix F of this Agreement. MAKE-UP TIME‌ When employees are late for work and have called in or made a reasonable attempt to do so, the Employer, if possible, may allow them to make up the lost work time within the same work week. Such approval shall not unreasonably be denied.

Class Seniority is defined as the date of hire in a class plus higher classes within the bargaining unit.
