Carriage by sea definition

Carriage by sea means the period from the time when the hazardous and noxious substances enter any part of the ship's equipment, on loading, to the time they cease to be present in any part of the ship's equipment, on discharge. If no ship's equipment is used, the period begins and ends respectively when the hazardous and noxious substances cross the ship's rail.

  • If the loss or damage is known to have occurred during Carriage by sea, for shipments to or from the United States of America, or waterborne Carriage in the United States of America or Carriage to or from a container yard or container freight station at Port of Loading before loading on the carrying vessel or at the Port of Discharge before delivery to the inland carrier, the Carrier’s maximum liability is determined by the provisions of U.S. COGSA, as defined above.

  • Goods (not being Goods stowed in Containers other than flats or pallets) which are stated on the front of this Bill of Lading to be carried on deck and livestock, whether or not carried on deck, are carried without responsibility on the part of the Carrier for loss or damage of whatsoever nature arising during Carriage by sea or inland waterway whether caused by unseaworthiness or negligence or any other cause whatsoever.

  • If US COGSA applies then it shall govern Carrier's liability throughout the Carriage by sea and the entire time that the Goods are in the actual custody of the Carrier or its Sub-Contractor from receipt prior to loading and following discharge prior to delivery including but not limited to when the Goods are at any container yard, freight station or area immediately adjacent to the sea terminal before loading onto the vessel or after discharge therefrom.

  • Containers and Goods which are stated on the face of the Bill of Lading or waybill to be carried on the vessel’s deck at shipper’s or Merchant’s risk, are carried without responsibility on the part of the Carrier for loss or damage of whatsoever nature arising during Carriage by sea or inland waterways whether caused by unseaworthiness or negligence or any other cause whatsoever.

  • Containers and Goods which are stated on the face hereof to be carried on deck at Shipper`s, or Merchant`s, risk, are carried without responsibility on the part of the Carrier for loss or damage of whatsoever nature arising during Carriage by sea whether caused by unseaworthiness or negligence or any other cause whatsoever.

  • Double Phase Aerosol Air Freshener means an aerosol air freshener with the liquid contents in two or more distinct phases that requires the product container be shaken before use to mix the phases, producing an emulsion.

  • Channel migration zone (CMZ) means the area where the active channel of a stream is prone to move and this results in a potential near-term loss of riparian function and associated habitat adjacent to the stream, except as modified by a permanent levee or dike.   • Moving beam radiation therapy means radiation therapy with any planned displacement of radiation field or patient relative to each other, or with any planned change of absorbed dose distribution. It includes arc, skip, conformal, intensity modulation and rotational therapy.

  • Houseboat means a powered vessel containing living accommodation, usually flat- bottomed and used in navigation.

  • Laundry prewash means a product that is designed for application to a fabric prior to laundering and that supplements and contributes to the effectiveness of laundry detergents and/or provides specialized performance.

  • aeroplane means a power-driven heavier-than-air aircraft, deriving its lift in flight chiefly from aerodynamic reactions on surfaces which remain fixed under given conditions of flight;

  • Ambient air quality standard means an established concentration, exposure time, and frequency of occurrence of air contaminant(s) in the ambient air which shall not be exceeded.
