Carers leave definition

Carers leave is leave for the purpose of an employee providing care to a member of the employees immediate family which includes a spouse including a former spouse, a defacto spouse or a former defacto spouse, child which includes an adopted child, a step child an ex-nuptial child or an adult child, parent, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling of the employee or a child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of a spouse of the employee. Carers leave can only be taken up to a maximum of 10 days in any one year and the employee shall be required to provide proof to the employer of the need for the time off to provide such care.
