Broken Shift definition

Broken Shift means a shift of work performed by employees in the Outside School Hours Care Program which is broken into not more than 2 periods (excluding rest pauses and meal breaks), where the unpaid break in between such periods is greater than one hour.
Broken Shift means a shift which is broken into two or more periods (excluding rest pauses and meal breaks) where the unpaid break in between such periods is greater than one hour:
Broken Shift means any shift worked in two periods where a continuous break in the 2 periods exceeds one hour.

Examples of Broken Shift in a sentence

  • Such ordinary working hours will be worked between the hours of 6.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. for which the Broken Shift Allowance specified in clause 5.2.1 will be paid if employees report for work twice per day.

  • Part-time employees may work a Broken Shift provided that each period of work will be paid as for a minimum of 2 hours.

  • However, such rate shall not be used in the calculation of casual rates in clause 11.3(a), the Broken Shift penalty rate in clause 11.12(c)(ii), the shift penalty rates in clause 11.12(b)(ii) andSaturday and Sunday penalty rates in clause 11.11, overtime rates of pay in clause 11.16 or public holiday rates of pay in clauses 21.4 and 21.5 which may be payable to the Employee.

  • Where an employee works two separate shifts per day they shall attract a Broken Shift Allowance as specified in Schedule 4.

  • Where the ordinary hours of the employee are not continuous except for the periods of refreshment and meal breaks, the Broken Shift Allowance specified in Appendix 1 shall be paid.
