- All staff and students practice universal precautions for infection control because all direct/indirect contact with human blood and body fluids may be infectious for HIV, HBV and/or other bloodborne pathogens.* *Bloodborne pathogens - pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood and in some body fluids can cause disease in humans.
