Bereavement Leave of Absence. Provided the employee was scheduled to work, an employee will be granted bereavement leave without loss of basic pay under the following conditions:
Bereavement Leave of Absence. An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay. Immediate family means spouse (as defined in Section 1.03 of Appendix 2 (B)), parents, and child. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as immediate family. An employee who has a bereavement in their family will be granted up to and including three (3) days’ absence with pay. Family means brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as family. In the event of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grand parents-in- law, the employee will be given one (1) days' leave with pay to attend the funeral. An additional day's traveling time, in each direction, will be granted in order for the employee to attend the funeral if such is to be held in excess of 600 kilometers from the employees’ home.
Bereavement Leave of Absence. Employees of the District shall be granted 40 necessary leave of absence because of the death of any member of his/her immediate 41 family. Not more than three (3) days shall be granted if travel of less than two hundred 42 fifty (250) miles one way is required, and not more than five (5) days shall be granted if 43 travel of more than two hundred fifty (250) miles one way is required. 44 45 Bereavement leave is non-cumulative and should generally be taken sequentially and 1 circumstances exist where the employee cannot take the leave sequentially and 4 reasonable period not to exceed six months. 5 6 No deduction shall be made from the salary of such employee nor shall such leave be 7 deducted from leave granted by other Sections of this Agreement or provided by the 8 governing board. Member of the immediate family, as used in this Section, means the 9 mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, child or grandchild of the employee or of the 10 spouse of the employee, and the spouse, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother, sister, brother- 11 in-law, or sister-in-lawof the employee, or any person having a principal place of residence 12 in the immediate household of the employee, including registered domestic partners and 13 their immediate family. 14

Bereavement Leave of Absence. 24.01 A leave of absence without loss of wages (overtime pay excluded) of five (5) days will be granted to an employee who loses time from his/her regular work to attend a funeral or to pay a condolence visit due to a bereavement within his/her immediate family (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). Immediate family is defined as follows: current spouse, son or daughter, step-son or step- daughter, father, mother, step-father, step-mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, and grandchildren. A leave of absence without loss of wages (overtime pay excluded) of one (1) day will be granted to an employee who loses time from his/her regular work to attend a funeral or to pay a condolence visit due to a bereavement for a grandparent-in-law.
Bereavement Leave of Absence. 24.01 A leave of absence without loss of wages (overtime pay excluded) of three (3) days, one of which must be the actual day of the funeral unless the date of the funeral is a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, will be granted to an employee who loses time from his/her regular work to attend a funeral or to pay a condolence visit due to a bereavement within his/her immediate family (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays). Immediate family is defined as follows; father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, stepson, stepdaughter, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, grandfather, grandmother, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, stepmother and stepfather.
Bereavement Leave of Absence. 27.01 If a death occurs in the immediate family of a regular employee, including probationers, during his/her scheduled work week, such employee will be given a leave of absence, surrounding the date of the funeral, other than vacations, with pay at his/her base hourly rate up to a maximum of eight (8) hours, or ten (10) hours where applicable.

For the purpose of this clause, an immediate relative shall be defined as follows: Spouse, parent, step parent, grandparent, child, step child, grandchild, brother, step brother, half brother, sister, step sister, half-sister, current spouse's parent, current spouse's step parent, current spouse's grandparent, son's current spouse, daughter's current spouse, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. For the purpose of the present clause, spouse includes a same-sex spouse, which is a person who has been residing with the PSO in a conjugal relationship, for a continuous period of at least one year, and has been publicly represented by the PSO as the PSO’s spouse. Where a seniority employee is absent from work on a regular work day and loses pay to attend a funeral or memorial service, as the case may be, for an immediate relative, he or she shall be reimbursed at his or her regular rate of pay for that work day. The employee will, on request, be excused with pay for the first three (3) working days if the service is held within the Province of Ontario and up to five (5) working days if out of Province as a result of the death of any immediate relative. Where a seniority employee is absent from work on a regular work day and loses pay to attend a funeral for his/her spouse, child, parent, brother or sister, the employee will be excused with pay for one additional working day subject to the service being held within the Province of Ontario. Where a seniority employee loses an immediate relative and the funeral occurs outside the country, the requirement to attend the relative’s funeral shall be waived for the purposes of the entitlements contained herein. Where a seniority employee is absent from work on a regular work day and loses pay to attend a funeral or memorial service, as the case may be, for his/her aunt or uncle, nieces or nephews, he or she shall be reimbursed at his or her regular rate of pay for that work day. Provisions of this article shall not apply to employees receiving other Employer benefits such as vacation pay, sickness and accident payments or on an authorized leave of absence without pay for any reason. An employee will not be entitled to receive under this Article bereavement pay in respect of a day for which he or she is receiving holiday pay. However, an employee will be excused from work and be eligible for pay for any three (3) or four (4) (in the case of loss of an employee’s spouse, child, parent, brother or sister only) normally scheduled ...
Bereavement Leave of Absence. 26.01 (a) The Company will grant five (5) days Leave of Absence with regular pay for the five (5) normal working days following the day of death in the event of the death of a member of the employee’s immediate family. Immediate family is understood to mean spouse, common-law-spouse, same sex partner, child, and stepchild.
