ASO Contracts is defined in Subsection 6.04(a) and Schedule 6.04(a).
ASO Contracts means any administrative services only contract entered into by a Person for the administration of health care benefits or services for which an employer group remains financially responsible on a self-insured basis. For purposes of this definition, a contract is not an ASO Contract because it is experience rated, retrospectively rated, or a minimum premium or similar arrangement so long as an insurance or HMO license is required under applicable Law to issue the contract.
ASO Contracts is defined in Subsection 5.1(b)(i).
Examples of ASO Contracts in a sentence
While it is true that the two ASO are charged with administration of mental health services for Mendocino County, by their very nature the ASO Contracts are, in practical terms, contracts for the direct delivery of mental health services, albeit services provided largely through organizations that subcontract with each ASO.
RECOMMENDED ACTION In Appendix D we propose specific additional requirements for amendment into the ASO Contracts to strengthen BHSR/MH’s ability to oversee and manage the ASO Contracts, including specified penalties for ASO non-compliance.
Further, we believe other county officials, including the former BHRS/MH Director, HHSA Director, County Counsel, and County Executive should have assured the ASO Contracts included these key provisions prior to submission to the Board for approval.RECOMMENDED ACTION As proposed in Section III (1) we recommend the County Executive proceed with refinement and execution of the amendments to the current ASO Contracts proposed in Appendix D.
In addition, there are various areas in the ASO Contracts where the ASOs are required to “collaborate with” specified parties.
Further, the ASO Contracts do not establish a clear BHRS/MH approval role for all ASO activities.

ASO Contracts means: (i) the contracts pursuant to which the Ceding Company provides to plan sponsors of self- funded groups administrative or related services for the management of disability benefits prior to the Effective Time; and (ii) the contracts pursuant to which the Ceding Company provides to employers administrative services or software for the management of leaves of absence by employees and related rights and benefits under Applicable Law (including the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, as amended, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, and similar U.S. state and municipal laws, and including as a result of long-term or short-term disability) and internal policies and practices of such employers, in each case of (i) and (ii) in connection with the Business.
