Anesthesia Services definition

Anesthesia Services means administration of anesthetic agents to cause loss of sensation to the body or body part.
Anesthesia Services means administration of any drug or combination of drugs with the purpose of creating deep sedation/analgesia, regional anesthesia or general anesthesia. Anesthesia services shall not include the administration of topical or local anesthesia or moderate sedation/analgesia;

Anesthesia Services. , unless otherwise specified, means the administration to an individual, in any setting, for any purpose, by any route, medication to induce a partial or total loss of sensation for the purpose of conducting an operative or other procedure. Anesthesia services include procedural sedation, deep sedation, and general, regional and monitored anesthesia.
Anesthesia Services means services that involve the administration of a medication to produce a blunting or loss of: pain perception (analgesia); voluntary and involuntary movements; autonomic function; and loss of memory and/or consciousness. “Anesthesia” does not include: (1) analgesia, use of a medication to provide relief of pain through the blocking of pain receptors in the peripheral and/or central nervous system where the patient does not perceive pain to the extent that may otherwise prevail, but the patient does not lose consciousness; (2) topical anesthesia; or (3) local anesthesia.
