Absorbed dose definition

Absorbed dose means the energy imparted by ionizing radiation per unit mass of irradiated material. The units of absorbed dose are the gray (Gy) and the rad.
Absorbed dose means the energy imparted by ionizing radiation per unit mass of irradiated material. It is determined as the quotient of dE by dM, where dE is the mean energy imparted by ionizing radiation to matter of mass dM. The SI unit of absorbed dose is joule per kilogram and the special name of the unit of absorbed dose is the gray (Gy). The units of absorbed dose are the gray (Gy) and the rad.
Absorbed dose means the energy imparted by ionizing radiation per unit mass of irradiated material, expressed in units of the gray (Gy) or the rad.

Examples of Absorbed dose in a sentence

  • Absorbed dose in rad equal to 1 rem or the absorbed dose in gray equal to 1 sievert.

  • The inclusion of the SI equivalent is for informational purposes only.(a) Absorbed dose.

  • Absorbed dose is determined as the quotient of dE by dM, where dE is the mean energy imparted by ionizing radiation to matter of mass dM.

  • As used in these regulations, the quality factors for converting absorbed dose to dose equivalent are shown below: QUALITY FACTORS AND ABSORBED DOSE EQUIVALENCIES TYPE OF RADIATION a Absorbed dose in rad equal to 1 rem or the absorbed dose in gray equal to 1 Sv.

  • Absorbed dose determination in external beam radiotherapy: an international code of practice for dosimetry based on standards of absorbed dose to water.
