Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB. An employee who is absent from work as a result of illness or injury sustained at work and who has been awaiting approval of a claim of WSIB for a period longer than one complete pay period, may apply to the Insurance Carrier for payment equivalent to the lesser of the benefit she would receive from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board if her claim was approved, or the benefit to which she would be entitled under the sick leave plan, Article. Payment under this Article will only be provided if the employee provides evidence of disability satisfactory to the Employer that any payments will be refunded to the Insurance Carrier following final determination of the claim by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. If the claim for WSIB is not approved, the monies paid as an advance will be applied towards the benefits to which the employee would be entitled under the sick leave plan, Article. Any payment under this provision will continue for a maximum duration equal to that of the weekly indemnity plan.
Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB. WSIB benefits shall be maintained in accordance with the 2008-2012 local collective agreement and/or the current practices of the parties. For clarity, where the current WSIB top up is deducted from sick leave the Board shall maintain the same level of top-up without deduction from sick leave.
Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB. 12.1 The parties must be in good standing with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) during the term of this MOU and shall furnish the other party with a valid certificate of good standing, or a letter indicating the party is a Schedule 2 employer, from the WSIB upon request. Where the party is not required to be registered with the WSIB and is not covered by WSIB Optional Insurance, the party shall maintain Employers Liability Insurance in the amount of $2,000,000.00 per occurrence.

An employee prevented from performing their regular work with the Board as a result of an occupational accident that is recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, shall have deducted from their sick leave account the difference between the employee's regular salary and the amount payable by the WSIB. This difference will be deducted from the employee's bank of sick leave credits until such credits are exhausted.

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB. An employee who is absent from work as a result of an illness or injury sustained at work and who has been awaiting approval of a claim for Workplace Safety & Insurance benefits for a period longer than one complete pay period may apply to the Hospital for payment equivalent to the lesser of the benefit the employee would receive from Workplace Safety & Insurance benefits if the employee’s claim was approved, or the benefit to which the employee would be entitled under the short-term sick portion of the disability income plan (HOODIP or equivalent plan). Payment will be provided only if the employee provides evidence for disability satisfactory to the Hospital and a written undertaking satisfactory to the Hospital that any payments will be refunded to the Hospital following final determination of the claim by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). If the claim for Workplace Safety & Insurance benefits is not approved, the monies paid as an advance will be applied towards the benefits to which the employee would be entitled under the short-term portion of the disability income plan. Any payment under this provision on will continue for a maximum of fifteen (15) weeks. Employees returning to work from an illness or injury compensable under WSIB will be assigned like work as necessary, if available. The Hospital shall continue to pay the premiums for benefits plans for employees who are on WSIB to a maximum of 30 months from the time the absence commenced, or for retirees who are in receipt of Pension Permanent Disability Benefits to a maximum of thirty (30) months from the time the absence commenced.

Coverage pursuant to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, 1997 is Consultant's responsibility.

When an employee, through their paid employment with the Company, suffers an occupational illness or injury, which is compensable under the WSIB, the employee will receive payment in accordance with the current WSIB. For the period of time not to exceed twenty-four (24) months those employees on leave covered by WSIB shall be given consideration for any job if available, for which the employee is capable and qualified to perform.
