Work Year for Teaching Members. The work year for all full-time members of the bargaining unit, excluding librarians, counseling faculty, coaches and non-instructional athletic trainers and members with extended assignments pursuant to Article 10.6.1.1, shall be that period which begins on the fourth (4th) Monday in August and terminates on the last day in May. For all teaching members of the bargaining unit, the academic year shall be two (2) semesters. Each semester shall be for a maximum of seventeen (17) weeks. Each semester shall include seventy-five (75) scheduled days of instruction and evaluation and up to ten (10) additional days for registration, academic counseling, convocations, exclusive of Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend classes may be scheduled with the agreement of the member and the Department Chairperson as approved by the appropriate Xxxx. The semester shall not include scheduled recesses. The spring semester shall also include commencement exercises no later than fifteen (15) days after the end of the final examination period.

The parties agree during the life of this agreement to explore a pilot program whereby the academic year will be three (3) semesters (Fall, Spring, and Summer), with faculty being required to teach during two (2) semesters. Individual faculty choices for preference on the two teaching semesters must be approved by the Xxxx or Xxxxxxx Weekend classes may be scheduled with the agreement of the member and the Department Chairperson as approved by the appropriate Xxxx.   • REGULAR WORK YEAR FOR TEACHERS 20.1 The annual salary established for employees covered by this agreement shall be payable in respect of the teacher's regular work year.

  • NON-TEACHING DUTIES A. The Committee and the Association agree that a teacher's primary responsibility is to teach. It must be remembered, however, that in addition to that primary purpose there are other responsibilities within the School that must be assumed by teachers. The Committee and the Association recognize that paraeducators, clerical employees are useful and necessary in order to implement teaching.   • Work Year The full-time work year for all employees employed in EA and ECE job classes shall be a minimum of 194 work days to correspond with the school year calendar.

  • Teaching Load Full teaching assignments shall normally include 12 course credit hours of scheduled teaching per academic quarter. A reassignment of duty, for the equivalent of 3 or 4 credit course, shall be provided during one term of the first academic year to all newly hired tenure track faculty to further their teaching, scholarship and service and to encourage faculty retention. Wherever possible the University will endeavor to arrange teaching schedules that avoid excessive numbers of preparations and recognize evening and/or off-campus assignments. Class sizes will be established and monitored by the appropriate academic xxxx in consultation with division chairs and affected faculty each term.
