Work Cycles. 23.2.1 From 1/1/03 to 29/2/04 the ordinary working hours will be worked in a 10-day/2-week cycle, Monday to Friday inclusive, with eight hours worked for each of nine days, and with 0.4 of an hour per day accruing and 0.4 of an hour per day credited by the enterprise towards the tenth day, which will be taken as a paid day off. The tenth day of the cycle will be known as the Rostered Day Off (hereinafter called ‘RDO’), and will be taken as outlined in clause 23.1 hereof. Payment on such an RDO will include the daily ‘Fares & Traveling Allowance,’ and any applicable Site Allowance as prescribed by the VBIA.

(a) The parties understand and agree that on remote jobsites or where special conditions apply, scheduling of extended work weeks/days off may be beneficial to the completion of the work and in those circumstances the parties will mutually agree to a work schedule to meet job conditions. If a work schedule that is not currently addressed in the collective agreement is requested by the Owner for a specific project, the Parties agreement to implement the work schedule will not be unreasonably withheld. Such agreements will apply on a project-by-project basis.
Work Cycles. The employer will notify the Union and post the work cycle for firefighters assigned to the 24 hour suppression shift, 12 hour suppression shift and to the support staff shift according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
