Weekdays. A standby Caretaker shall be compensated two (2) hours of straight time pay (not TOIL) per day for the period of 6:00 pm to 6:00 am

For the period for which the employer has paid the salaried employee the salary specified above, the employer is entitled to debit as a refund the daily allowance or comparable compensation which the salaried employee receives under law or according to an agreement, or to be reimbursed by the salaried employee for such amount, which nevertheless shall not exceed the amount which the employer has paid. A short temporary absence granted due to a sudden illness in the employee's family or the death of a close relative shall not be deducted from the employee’s salary or annual vacation. A close relative, in this context, refers to a spouse, the employee’s own parents or his/her spouse’s parents, the employee’s family’s children as well as his/her brothers, sisters and grandparents. The duration of the short temporary absence shall be determined according to the circumstances as outlined above and the travel time required. Application guideline A short temporary absence in the case of a sudden illness in the employee’s family is granted to arrange appropriate treatment for the sick family member. At the employer’s request the employee must present proof of his/her need for the temporary absence. The Parties recommend that in the case of a military refresher course, the companies should pay a salaried employee a portion of his/her salary that, when added to the reservist compensation paid by the state for military duty, would equate to full pay.
