Each regular, permanent employee shall receive vacation with pay subject to scheduling by the Chief of Police in accordance with the following: Vacation is earned from the first day of employment for employees of permanent standing. At the time of employment (or for current employees, at the time for signing of this collective bargaining agreement), the chief of police shall determine relevant prior full time law enforcement experience or dispatching experience that shall determine the step at which employees shall begin and follow through their careers with Cape Xxxxxxxxx. The prior experience shall be used for determining level of vacation time, but scheduling shall be based upon seniority with the Cape Xxxxxxxxx Police Department.

Vacation time cannot be given to another employee. If a holiday falls within a vacation period, it shall not be treated as a vacation day. An employee may utilize vacation time if sick leave has become depleted. If an employee becomes sick while on vacation, the Town reserves the right, but has no obligation, to offer the employee the option of charging the previously scheduled vacation time to sick time. At the end of each calendar year, an employee can carry over to the next year accumulated vacation time not to exceed ten days. The Director of Public Works and the Town Manager shall approve any extension beyond this amount. As the Town believes it is in the best interest of both the Town and employees for vacation time to be taken each year, no extension may be granted by the Director of Public Works and the Town Manager unless a specific use of the additional accumulated time has been identified. Vacation time shall not accumulate after an employee has been absent due to a Workers' Compensation injury after the lapsing of one (1) year from the first date of absence. Accrued vacation leave shall be paid to a permanent employee in good standing upon separation from the service or to a beneficiary or estate upon death.

  • Family Leave 1. An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement. The ability to take leave ceases when a xxxxxx placement ceases unless the need for additional leave is directly connected to the previous placement.

  • Parental and Family Leave ‌ Parental leave shall be granted in accordance with state law. Family leave shall be granted in accordance with federal law. Faculty members may request an unpaid leave of absence for infant care and bonding purposes.

  • Family Care Leave In accordance with RCW 49.12 and WAC 296-130, employees shall be allowed to use any or all of their choice of sick leave or other paid time off to care for a family member (as defined above) who has a serious health condition or an emergency condition. Employees shall not be disciplined or otherwise discriminated against because of their exercise of these rights.

  • Maternity Leave and Parental Leave 8.9.1.1 For the benefits of the Employment Standards Act to apply during the statutory periods set out by the Act, employees must ensure that the appropriate certificate indicated in that Act is signed by a duly qualified medical practitioner and submitted to the appropriate Xxxx or Director.

  • Training Leave An employee appointed or elected as an accredited representative of the union shall, upon application in writing to the employer, be granted up to 5 days leave with pay each calendar year (non-cumulative) to attend appropriate courses: • Such courses shall be designed and structured with the objective of promoting good industrial relations within the building and construction industry. • Consultation may take place between the parties in the furtherance of this objective Accredited representative of the union shall mean a job xxxxxxx recognised by the employer. No. of days per year Up to l5 1 5 31-50 3 15 51-100 4 20 101 and over 5 25 The application for leave shall be given to the employer at least 6 weeks in advance of the commencement of the course. The application shall contain the following details: • The name of the employee seeking leave • The period of time for which the leave is sought (including dates and daily commencing and finishing times) and • The title, general description and structure of the course to be attended and the location of where the course is to be conducted. The employer shall advise the union within seven clear working days (Monday to Friday) of receiving the application as to whether or not the application for leave has been approved. The time of taking leave shall be arranged so as to minimise any adverse effect on the employer’s operations. The onus shall rest with the employer to demonstrate an inability to grant leave when an eligible employee is otherwise entitled. An employer shall not be liable for any additional expenses associated with an employee’s attendance at a course, other than the payment of ordinary time earnings for such absence. For the purposes of this clause ordinary time earnings shall be defined as the relevant award classification rate, shift work loadings plus over-award payments. Leave rights granted in accordance with this clause will not result in additional payment for alternative time off to the extent that the course coincides with an employee’s day off in the 19 day month work cycle. An employee on request by their employer shall provide proof of their attendance at any course within 7 days. If an employee fails to provide such proof the employer may deduct any amount already paid for attendance from the week’s pay or any monies due to the employee. Where an employee is sick during a period when leave under this provision has been granted proof of attendance at the course is not required for that period and the employee shall receive payment in accordance with personal leave provisions. Leave of absence granted in accordance with this clause shall count for all purposes of employment.

  • Holiday Leave Holiday leave provisions shall be as noted below:

  • Funeral Leave Section 30.1 In the event of the death of a parent, spouse, child, sister, brother, mother-in- law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent of the Employee or spouse, grandchild of the Employee, or “xxxxxx” or “step” situations within these relationships, the Employee shall be allowed a leave of absence with pay of two (2) consecutive (eight or ten hour) workdays.

  • FMLA Leave FMLA leave may be used for:
