Vacation Selection Process. Vacation selection process for all eligible employees (including part time) shall commence by November 1st and continue through December 31st. All employees who are eligible for vacation will be included on the vacation planner. Full time employees, in order of seniority, shall choose their weeks of vacation subject to the vacation formula above. Following the approval of the vacation schedule for full time employees, unrestricted employees will choose their vacation next, followed by restricted employees. All employees are limited to two (2) weeks of vacation between June 15th and September 15th. Employees may not take vacation in the week prior to the week of Christmas, Christmas week or the week after Christmas. In addition, when Christmas falls on a Sunday or Monday, employees may not take vacation two weeks prior to the week of Christmas. After December 31st, any outstanding vacation selections shall be granted on a “first come, first serve” basis, subject to operational needs. Upon completion, a copy of the vacation planner shall be forwarded to the Union Office. The completed vacation planner will also be available in store for review by employees. Any changes to the vacation schedule shall be by mutual agreement between the employee and Store Manager or designate. Paid vacations for full-time employees and statutory holidays for all employees shall be considered as time worked for all purposes of the Collective Agreement.

Employees have up to three (3) calendar days to select their vacation by seniority. The minimum number of employees permitted off on vacation in each classification in a week shall be in accordance with the vacation formula outlined in Section 11.03 (A). After January 31, any outstanding vacation selections shall be granted on a “first come, first serve” basis, subject to operational needs. Upon completion, a copy of the vacation planner shall be forwarded to the Union Office. The completed vacation planner will also be available in store for review by employees. Any changes to the vacation schedule shall be by mutual agreement between the employee and Store Manager or designate. Grid A full-time employees will be paid weekly whether they are on vacation or working. Part-time employees will be paid out in March. Vacation schedules, once approved by the Employer, shall not be changed except by mutual agreement between the employee and the Employer. Company seniority shall apply in preference for vacations within the store. In cases where transfers of personnel into a store make the foregoing inoperable, the fairest alternative procedure shall be adopted. Upon request, wherever possible, the Employer will schedule full-time employees the first day of the week after vacation as a day off. Furthermore, the employee's starting time for the first shift upon returning from paid vacation shall be written on the schedule prior to leaving on vacation. Two (2) rounds of vacation selection activity shall be permitted, and selections so made on each shift shall be on the basis of departmental seniority. In each round, employees may select one (1) to five (5) shifts of vacation leave which must fall entirely within on designated vacation period. One (1) vacation period is defined as the five (5) work shifts between any two (2) six-day-off breaks. An employee’s turn in the selection process is defined as either a PASS, or the selection of from one (1) to five (5) shifts of vacation time off. Once the two (2) rounds of vacation selection have been completed, the remaining days will be made available on a first come first served basis.

Vacation Selection Process. Bargaining unit staff shall apply for their vacation preferences as follows: Between March 1st -15th of each year, each program supervisor will circulate a vacation preference sheet. Employees will indicate what vacation time they would prefer for the period May 1st - November 30th.
