Vacation Flexibility. After the first year of service, each employee may have advanced to her/him such amount of vacation as would accrue until the next 30 June.
Vacation Flexibility. Other than in the first incomplete calendar year, as of January 1, each employee shall have one full calendar year's vacation entitlement available to her/him to take within that calendar year. This time of vacation is to be determined by mutual agreement between the department and the individual employee.

Provided the employee and her/his supervisor have attempted to resolve the dispute before a grievance is filed, grievances under this Article shall begin at Step 2 of the grievance procedure.
Vacation Flexibility. Vacation days not used during the contract year shall be accumulated to an unlimited amount. Normally, the maximum vacation taken during any contract year shall not exceed thirty-five (35) days; however, additional earned vacation time (annual vacation plus accumulated unused vacation) may be allowed with the approval of the Superintendent.

A supervisor or manager will not unreasonably refuse vacation leave requested by an employee, subject to operational requirements. Employees will take at least one-half of their total (annual plus accumulated) vacation balance in a block of consecutive days, extenuating circumstances excepted.
