Vacation Carry over -- The employee may submit a request in writing to their supervisor to carry-over no more than five (5) vacation days to the subsequent year. Such a request shall be submitted at least thirty calendar days before the end of the employee’s assigned work year. In no instance shall any such voluntary carryover extend beyond the subsequent work year. (Effective July 1, 2005)

Vacation Carry. Over The maximum amount of vacation time that can be “carried over” from year-to-year shall be 400 hours. This maximum limit can be extended for a specified period of time upon recommendation of the Fire Chief and approval of the City Manager if an employee is unable to take vacation due to operational needs.
Vacation Carry. Over: A maximum of twelve (12) vacation days may be carried over into the next year. Application for the carry over of more than twelve (12) days must be made to the District in writing.
Vacation Carry. Over Administrator vacation records will be assessed annually as of June 30. Administrators having more than fifty (50) days of accumulated vacation as of June 30, will be requested by the Director of Human Resources to review their vacation plans with their administrative supervisor to discuss a plan for reducing the balance to fifty (50) days or less of accumulated vacation by June 30 of the following year.

Whenever an employee has a vacation leave balance exceeding the maximum permitted for carry forward as of October 1, the employee and his or her supervisor shall mutually schedule the excess leave to be taken in order to ensure that earned vacation leave is not lost.
