Unit Closure. If a unit is closed, a nurse may review the current vacant positions within the Medical Center. At the end of seven (7) days, nurses may take voluntary layoff including severance options or, in the order of their seniority, shall be allowed to select an open/available position or, if eligible, may displace the least senior nurse in a similar position for which they qualify from the Low Seniority Roster.

Unit Closure. If a unit is closed, a listing of any available vacant position within the Hospital and the Low Seniority Roster will be posted on the unit for at least seven (7) days. At the end of that seven (7) day period, nurses shall, in order of their seniority, be allowed to select a position from the list of any available vacant positions for which they are qualified or bump a less senior nurse from the Low Seniority Roster, providing the nurse is qualified in the opinion of the Employer.
Unit Closure. In the event the layoff is due to the closure of a nursing unit/department, the affected nurses will be offered the options provided for under Article 10.2.5 above.

If a nurse has not contacted the Employer regarding their preferences, as provided for in this Agreement, the Employer will assign the nurse any available position as appears to be appropriate, based upon the nurse's seniority, subject to skill, competence, ability and experience in the opinion of the Employer. The process for assignment to available positions will not be delayed due to the absence of the nurse.

If reliefscheduled PRN nurses were also affected by this unit closure, they will be ranked by date of hire and may select a remaining vacancy, after this process is completed with the affected full- and part-time nurses, or may indicate they prefer to be laid off.
