Understudies. ‌ Except in the case of emergencies, the Understudies must be furnished with clean costumes when called upon to perform. In any event, the Theatre must provide the Understudies with properly fitted shoes.

Understudies. A PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER who is chosen to cover the solo role of another PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER or the solo role of an artist who is not a PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER is a Rehearsal Understudy. SYMPHONY will notify Rehearsal Understudies if any coachings for such roles will be made available and whether or not they may be required to sing at an open rehearsal in advance of such rehearsal. a) Covering a closed rehearsal SYMPHONY shall compensate each PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER one (1) hour of additional Rehearsal Pay for each rehearsal in which they perform the role as Rehearsal Understudy, but not less than one (1) additional Performance pay per program. b) Covering an open rehearsal In the event a PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER performs the role of Rehearsal Understudy in an open rehearsal, SYMPHONY shall compensate each PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER fifty percent (50%) the applicable Solo Fee as though it were a performance as set forth in Article 9.3.b above, in addition to applicable fees paid to such Rehearsal Understudies as defined in Article 9.5.a above. SYMPHONY shall give Rehearsal Understudies at least seven (7) days’ notice of material to be prepared for a given service. The failure of SYMPHONY to give such notice will entitle the rehearsal understudy to an additional twenty-five percent (25%) of the minimum fee. c) Covering a memorized rehearsal In the event a PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER is required to memorize any portion of a solo for which they would perform the role of Rehearsal Understudy in a rehearsal, SYMPHONY shall pay one-hundred and fifty percent (150%) the applicable memorization fee as defined in Article 2.5 for at least one (1) performance, regardless of whether the PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER actually performs the role in a rehearsal or performance. d) Covering a performance In the event a PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER performs a role for which they were originally assigned Rehearsal Understudy, SYMPHONY will compensate them the full value of a Solo as set forth in Article 9.3 in addition to any additional pay they may have earned during rehearsals as Rehearsal Understudy.
Understudies. (A) Except as provided in paragraph (5) below, in an Off-Broadway production, all parts and/or roles except star roles, "bit" parts, and one-person shows, shall be covered by an understudy. Equity shall have sole authority to determine whether an understudy is needed for a star part. (1) Understudies shall be contracted no later than two weeks after the first public performance. Understudy parts and/or roles assigned to Principals or Chorus must be so assigned on the original contract or with new contracts or riders with appropriate salary adjustments. (See also Rule 15(B), Hiring As Cast and Rule 41(A)(3), MORE REMUNERATIVE EMPLOYMENT.) (2) If any performing member of the cast understudies a Principal part or a role, the Actor shall receive no less than $30.00 per week in addition to the Actor’s own salary for each Actor understudied. (3) Understudies who are not performing members of the cast are not required to receive any additional compensation above minimum unless engaged as Understudy for four or five roles. In such case, the Understudy shall receive not less than $30.00 per week for each role covered beyond three.

Understudies. (A) An understudy when employed or assigned must be engaged under the applicable Equity contract as per Rule 14 CONTRACT or pursuant to a rider attached to the Actor's contract. The below-listed terms and conditions shall apply.
Understudies. (a) The Employer shall utilize its best efforts to continue to engage understudies for Principal roles in accordance with its past practices. (b) The Employer shall endeavor to provide opportunities for Principal roles and Principal role understudies to Ensemble Members. No Ensemble member shall understudy/perform more than ten (10) roles in an opera season (plus one role for every production exceeding eight in an opera season). No Artist shall be required to perform in any Xxxx Opera Center event on the day of a performance in which he is performing or understudying a leading or featured role. When their schedule permits, understudies shall be called to all rehearsals involving the role they are understudying. (c) Ensemble Members and Choristers engaged as understudies for Principal roles shall be so engaged from the first Principal rehearsal for his role in the production. (d) Other Artists engaged as understudies for Principal roles shall be engaged as Principals and shall be so engaged no later than the first staging rehearsal for the production or two (2) weeks prior to the Piano Run-Through for the production, whichever is later. If the Principal Artist engaged to perform is engaged to commence employment after the first staging rehearsal for his role in the production, a Principal Artist will be engaged as an understudy to commence employment no later than the first staging rehearsal for the role in which he is an understudy. (e) In the absence of the Principal Artist engaged for the role, no one shall rehearse the role, whether music or staging (including “walking the role”), prior to the commencement of employment of the understudy for such role.
Understudies. There is no minimum understudy requirement for Family Shows.
