Trip Assignments. Trips may be assigned to unassigned drivers to fill their confirmed hours before offered on rotation. It will be expected that the driver will perform all of their regular work first. Trips are offered to drivers in this order – the day, and then by order the trip was submitted.

Trip Assignments. 43 On Wednesday morning trips will be chosen by drivers for the following week based on 44 seniority. Drivers must be present on the day of trip assignments unless other 45 arrangements have been made with the Transportation Supervisor. If there are more trips 46 than drivers, a 2nd rotation will begin at the top of the seniority list and continue until all 47 trips have been chosen by drivers. Should an eligible driver fail to choose a trip on 48 Wednesday they shall move to the bottom of the seniority list for that week.

Trip Assignments. Trips shall be sequenced for offer based on the date and time of the receipt of the request by the Transportation Department. Unless assigned to a Field Trip/Cover Driver as per Article 12.2 above, drivers will be assigned to a trip by order of seniority, with assignments scheduled in rotating order. The District will notify the eligible driver at least 48-hours prior to a scheduled trip. The driver will be required to know his/her status on the trip rotation and make himself/herself available at the `Department of Transportation for acceptance/declination of a trip assignment. All drivers will be required to give a reply to the District within a 24-hour time period (workday), whether the driver accepts or declines the trip. A driver who accepts or declines a trip shall be placed at the bottom of the rotational list, maintaining seniority order. Compensation for minimum show-up time for any trip shall be not less than two (2) hours paid at the overtime rate, if not provided a 24 hour cancellation notice. A driver notified of a trip with 24-hour notice or less may turn down the trip without going to the bottom of the list. The District will attempt to go through the rotational list, until conclusion of time restraints. The driver who accepts the trip with 24-hour notice or less shall retain his/her place on the list. A driver whose trip is canceled shall be afforded the opportunity of the next unassigned trip. A driver, including a Field Trip/Cover Driver who declines a field trip under this section, or who is unable to perform an accepted trip shall have his/her name placed at the bottom of the rotational list, maintaining seniority order. Drivers who have received counsel documented in writing associated with a non- excused absence or tardy will forfeit two (2) rotations on the rotational list. In those instances where it is felt by the Management of Transportation that unusual circumstances exist concerning a trip assignment, the District shall have the prerogative to assign a qualified employee. Any skipped driver shall be treated as if his/her trip had been canceled. If training was a factor in the trip reassignment, the District will train the employee as soon as possible. A driver who accepts a trip assignment will be expected to perform the trip assignment. All drivers shall conduct themselves in a highly professional manner at all times and be service-oriented. Trip Assignments. 1. Trips will be posted at the trip selection meeting. Employees will select trips on a seniority basis. In order to select a trip, drivers must be present at the trip selection meeting and be prepared to select a trip. Drivers not able to be present may provide the supervisor with a written statement of his/her desire to select a trip. Any driver not working the day of the trip selection meeting will be allowed to phone the supervisor stating his/her desire to select trips. If a driver is working during the time trips are being selected he/she must leave a note or request form stating his/her intentions. If there are no written intentions from the above situations drivers will receive a “no” each time their name comes up on the roster. An employee may be bypassed for a trip selection if the trip would cause the bus driver to exceed 40 hours in the same work week. Trips will be selected in the following order: Trip roster drivers, Drivers removed from the roster, Regular drivers not on the roster, Probationary drivers. Trips not selected by the drivers present in the above groups can be selected only by the drivers on the trip roster for overtime. Any remaining trips will be assigned to sub drivers.
