Transition in Perspective. Soon after the break-up of the former Soviet Union, Azerbaijan entered an era of severe social and economic disruptions. Prior to events in 1990, for example, the former Soviet Union relied on Azerbaijan for nearly 20 percent of its total fossil fuels, more than 70 percent of oil exploration and extraction machinery, 30 percent of its fresh fruits, and 80 percent of its cotton. Of course, there were many other important republic’’ trade goods, but these stand out for their complementary importance to Azerbaijan, together representing approximately percent of the country’s economic activity. In all instances, markets and production demand for these threatened collapse with the country’s independence. Meanwhile, economic reforms in Azerbaijan were hindered from the outset by conflicts with Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh that lasted until a cease-fire was negotiated in 1994. Also during this time, three different governments came to power, with two coup attempts, before present administration of President Xxxxxx Xxxxxx could provide some near-term stability.

  • REDUCTION IN PERSONNEL A.   • Leave With Pay for Family-Related Responsibilities (a) For the purpose of this clause, family is defined as spouse (or common-law spouse resident with the employee), dependent children (including xxxxxx children and children of legal or common-law spouse), parents (including stepparents or xxxxxx parents), or any relative residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • Time Off for Union Activities A. Conventions and Conferences Union-designated employees may be allowed time off without pay to attend union-sponsored conventions or conferences. Approval for the time off must be granted in advance of the absence and in accordance with the Employer’s leave policies. Approval will not be granted if the absence interferes with the Employer’s ability to provide coverage during the requested time off or the operating needs of the agency cannot be met.

  • Meetings Between the Institute and Management Where operational requirements permit, the Employer will grant leave with pay to an employee to attend meetings with management on behalf of the Institute.

  • Delays in Performance a. Neither City nor Consultant shall be considered in default of this Agreement for delays in performance caused by circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the non-performing party. For purposes of this Agreement, such circumstances include but are not limited to, abnormal weather conditions; floods; earthquakes; fire; epidemics; war; riots and other civil disturbances; strikes, lockouts, work slowdowns, and other labor disturbances; sabotage or judicial restraint.

  • Surgery Services and Mastectomy Related Treatment This plan provides benefits for mastectomy surgery and mastectomy-related services in accordance with the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998 and Rhode Island General Law 27-20-29 et seq. For the member receiving mastectomy-related benefits, coverage will be provided in a manner determined in consultation with the attending physician, physician assistant, or an advance practice registered nurse and the patient, for: • all stages of reconstruction of the breast on which the mastectomy was performed; • surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce a symmetrical appearance; • prostheses; and • treatment of physical complications at all stages of the mastectomy, including lymphedema.
