Training Leave. An employee appointed or elected as an accredited representative of the union shall, upon application in writing to the employer, be granted up to 5 days leave with pay each calendar year (non-cumulative) to attend appropriate courses: • Such courses shall be designed and structured with the objective of promoting good industrial relations within the building and construction industry. • Consultation may take place between the parties in the furtherance of this objective Accredited representative of the union shall mean a job xxxxxxx recognised by the employer. The following shall apply: Employees covered by Agreement Max. No. of employees to attend per year Xxx. No. of days per year Up to l5 1 5 31-50 3 15 51-100 4 20 101 and over 5 25 The application for leave shall be given to the employer at least 6 weeks in advance of the commencement of the course. The application shall contain the following details: • The name of the employee seeking leave • The period of time for which the leave is sought (including dates and daily commencing and finishing times) and • The title, general description and structure of the course to be attended and the location of where the course is to be conducted. The employer shall advise the union within seven clear working days (Monday to Friday) of receiving the application as to whether or not the application for leave has been approved. The time of taking leave shall be arranged so as to minimise any adverse effect on the employer’s operations. The onus shall rest with the employer to demonstrate an inability to grant leave when an eligible employee is otherwise entitled. An employer shall not be liable for any additional expenses associated with an employee’s attendance at a course, other than the payment of ordinary time earnings for such absence. For the purposes of this clause ordinary time earnings shall be defined as the relevant award classification rate, shift work loadings plus over-award payments. Leave rights granted in accordance with this clause will not result in additional payment for alternative time off to the extent that the course coincides with an employee’s day off in the 19 day month work cycle. An employee on request by their employer shall provide proof of their attendance at any course within 7 days. If an employee fails to provide such proof the employer may deduct any amount already paid for attendance from the week’s pay or any monies due to the employee. Training Leave. A. Mandatory Training Mandatory Training is training required by the department. The State shall reimburse Unit 16 employees for expenses incurred as a result of satisfactorily completing training courses required by the department for performance in their current job. The department shall authorize time without loss of compensation for mandatory training.
Training Leave. A bargaining unit member who is directed by the University to engage in specified training and/or education as a condition of continued employment will be maintained in a regular pay status for the duration of such training.
Training Leave. Where it is determined by the company that an employee shall undertake additional training or attend training seminars the employee shall undertake such training or attend such seminar. Provided that if the training or attendance is undertaken during ordinary working hours the employee shall not suffer any loss of pay. The company shall endeavour to schedule training programs during ordinary working hours, however, if such training or attendance at seminars is conducted outside normal working hours the employee shall be paid at ordinary time rates while attending such training course or seminar. All other non-approved training undertaken by employees outside ordinary working hours will be without pay.

If required training exceeds a 40-hour work week, a bargaining unit member will be paid for all compensable hours beyond the 40-hour work week on an overtime basis according to the provisions of Article 12.
Training Leave. Employees covered under this agreement shall receive a maximum of forty-eight (48) hours per year of paid training leave. All paid training shall be approved by the Chief at his sole discretion.
Training Leave. In exceptional circumstances where there has been a significant change in work methods or the introduction of new equipment, the Employer will consider on request of the Immediate Supervisor, relief from normal duties in order to obtain training in the use of new methods or equipment. Training Leave. If the Company sends an employee on a training course during working hours, the employee will be paid his regular earnings for the period. To qualify, training course content must, in the Company's opinion, be of direct benefit to the Company's operations. In the event an employee enrols in a night school course that will benefit himself and the Company in relation to his respective job, the employee may apply in writing describing the course that he wishes to enrol in and explain the benefits to himself and the Company. Upon acceptance of the course by the Company it will pay 50% of the cost of the course to a maximum eighty dollars ($80.00) upon the successful completion of the course.
Training Leave. Training Leave is granted when the department either requires or allows the employee time off to attend training events that are of either a mandatory or beneficial nature to the Department. Training Leave is granted at the discretion of the Training Chief. Training Leave does not occupy a calendar leave slot. Educational Opportunity Leave. Educational Opportunity Leave is available when the time off and subsequent vacancy created by the requesting employee does not cause overtime. Educational Opportunity Leave replaces whatever leave that was used to attend training if no overtime was incurred during the time used for training. Specific instructions on the use of Education Leave, Training Leave and Educational Opportunity Leave can be found in the department's Policies, Procedures and Instruction manual.
Training Leave. The employee has the possibility to benefit from a training leave for all training courses requiring a final examination as per the following: ½ day leave if the length of this training is equal to or longer than 20 hours; 1 day if the length of training is equal to 40 hours; ½ day’s leave more for each segment of 20 hours. The overall training leave may not exceed a maximum of two (2) days-leave per year, regardless of the length and number of training courses attended.
