Time Off for Union Activities. Local Union representatives shall be allowed time off without pay for legitimate Union business such as Union meetings, State or area wide Union committee meetings, Union training sessions, State-wide contract negotiations, State or International conventions, provided such representative shall give reasonable notice to his/her supervisor of such absence and shall be allowed such time off if it does not substantially interfere with the operating needs of the Employer. The employee may utilize any accumulated time (holiday, personal, vacation days) in lieu of taking such without pay. Such time off shall not be detrimental in any way to the employee's record. Employees absent from work pursuant to this Section shall continue to accrue seniority, continuous service and creditable service during such absences.
