Common use of Third Step Clause in Contracts

Third Step. If the grievance has not been settled in the Second Step and if it is to be appealed to the Third Step, the Association shall notify the Superintendent in writing within five (5) school days after receipt of the Superintendent’s Second Step answer of the desire to appeal. If such appeal is made, the grievance shall be reviewed at a meeting between the Board [or its designated representative(s)], the Superintendent, the grievant, and the Association representative(s) within ten (10) school days after receipt by the Superintendent of the notice of appeal. A written answer shall be given by the Board (or its representative) to the aggrieved teacher and the Association representative(s) within fifteen (15) school days after the date of the Third Step meeting.
