THE WORK ENVIRONMENT. The work setting provides an appropriate environment in which the student will be enabled to apply their University learning in practice which requires the student to work regularly with children and/or young people. The Setting will:  Take responsibility for the Health and Safety and personal liability of the student at the workplace as with any other employee/volunteer  Ensure the student has a current and relevant Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for the setting and inform the University if this is not the case  Follow Safeguarding and PREVENT reporting procedures.  Provide an appropriate environment in which the student will be enabled to apply their University learning in practice and agree to release the student from their duties in the setting to attend sessions at Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxxx University  Inform Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxxx University, Placement Team (01522 563720), should there be any prolonged absence of the student from the work setting (e.g. sickness, maternity or compassionate leave)  Take into consideration that the student will be using their workplace experience as a source of learning, and that this might involve for example, observations and reflective accounts being used in their University assessments  Support the university in monitoring attendance  Complete any necessary paperwork in order to support the development of the students  Ensure that parents and relevent stakeholders at the setting are aware of the nature of the student’s studies which are bound by the usual confidentiality policy of the setting  Provide adequate arrangements for first aid and accident reporting procedures  Provide PPE/C free of charge should this be necessary.
