The School's Obligations. (a) The period of your child’s boarding. Subject to these terms and conditions, the School will accept your child as a member of the boarding community from the time of joining the School until the end of his or her secondary schooling. However, the School shall not be obliged to permit your child to enter sixth form boarding unless satisfied that it is appropriate to do so having regard to his or her academic attainments and all other relevant circumstances. The School may make a decision as to whether your child may join sixth form boarding after the results of GCSE or equivalent examinations are known, and may make entry to sixth form boarding conditional upon the results of such examinations. Students in the sixth form must make satisfactory progress in all of their subjects by the end of Year 12 such that they have a viable programme of study for Year 13. The Headmaster will have discretion about what constitutes a viable programme of study.

However, the School shall not be obliged to permit your child to enter Xxxxxx Valence Senior School from Xxxxxx Valence Preparatory School or, if at Xxxxxx Valence Senior School, the Sixth Form, unless the School is satisfied that it is appropriate to do so, having regard to his or her academic attainments and all other relevant circumstances. Pupils at Xxxxxx Valence Preparatory School will be required to undertake the same procedures for entry to Xxxxxx Valence Senior School as all external candidates. The Senior School may make a decision as to whether your child may join the Sixth Form after the results of GCSE or equivalent examinations are known, and may make entry to the Sixth Form conditional upon the results of such examinations. Furthermore, entry into the Upper Sixth Form will be conditional upon the achievement of satisfactory grades in the AS level or equivalent examinations taken in the Lower Sixth Form.

(a) Subject to these Terms and Conditions and payment of the Fees, the School would expect to be able to accept the Pupil as a pupil from the time of joining the School until the end of his or her schooling. However, (i) Acceptance into the Prep School does not guarantee automatic Acceptance into the Senior School and (ii) the School shall not be obliged to permit the Pupil to enter the Sixth Form unless satisfied that it is appropriate to do so having regard to his or her academic attainments and all other relevant circumstances. The School may make a decision as to whether the Pupil may join the Sixth Form after the results of GCSE or equivalent examinations are known, and may make entry to the Sixth Form conditional upon the results of such examinations; it may also make a decision regarding the continuation of the Pupil’s Sixth Form education when the results of the Pupil’s exams (whether public or internal) are known at the end of their Lower Sixth Form studies.

The School may make a decision as to whether your child may join the Sixth Form after the results of GCSE or equivalent examinations are known, and may make entry to the Sixth Form conditional upon the results of such examinations. Where a child does not sit the entrance examination in person at Abingdon School and/or has not been invigilated by Abingdon School staff, progress beyond the first term and/or first year is conditional on their standard of work being in keeping with their entrance examination result and with the level expected by Abingdon School.

If, in the professional opinion of the School Director and in consultation with the Parents and the Student, it is felt that the School is not adequately meeting your Child’s educational needs beyond a certain stage of his/her education, the School will give at least a term’s notice of such a decision.

While the School will use its reasonable endeavours to educate pupils by means of tuition and extra-curricular activity in accordance with the traditions of the School and good practice in the education of young people, it will not be liable for any failure of the Pupil to attain any academic or other standard.
