The School Day. Basically, the professional job consists of the following fundamental obligations and responsibilities, set within the context of the school day as practiced according to administrative policy. The School Day. 1. The School Day. 10.1 The duration of a full school day, including fifteen (15) minutes mid-morning break but excluding mid-day break shall be of 5.5 hours a day in schools within the Early and Junior Years cycles (i.e. 27.5 hours per week on a five-day week). Provided that the mid-day break shall be of thirty (30) minutes duration . Provided further that all working/school days shall be full days except the first two (2) working days before the fourth Monday of September (preparation days for teaching grades) and as from the first working /school day in June till the 6th of July. The Board and the Association agree that some supervisory responsibilities shared among the teachers on an equitable basis are necessary at student functions. The Principal shall determine to which of those events teacher attendance is expected, which are eligible for extra compensation, and from which teachers may be excused. Assignments which are beyond this description of the school day and which are in excess of the basic professional responsibility shall be compensated in accordance with the extra-pay (for extra-duty) policy in the Salary Schedule. When an extended school day program is in existence, the employee involved shall not be required to be on duty longer than would be expected under the regular school program.

If a mutually acceptable date cannot be reached, the administrator shall, within the next five (5) school days, establish a meeting date and time during the teacher’s work day or within thirty minutes before or after the work day.
The School Day. (212) The Board and the Association recognize that a teaching assignment involves classroom instruction time, planning and conference time, general supervision of students’ time, lunch time, and travel time for those with an assignment in more than one building in one day. Teachers who travel as a part of their assignment shall be compensated for mileage at the IRS rate per mile in accordance with procedures established by the Business Office. If a teacher believes that their prep time or duty free lunch is not provided in their original schedule, upon notification, administration will meet with the Association and building principal to discuss the situation and seek resolution.

The School Day. Definition - The normal in-school workday shall be eight (8) hours, including lunch period. The Board shall have the right to determine the number of minutes, the number of periods, and the length of each period within the normal duty day of 8 hours. The duty day may be extended to include open houses, parent-teacher conferences, student educational progress meetings, and faculty meetings. The duty day may also be extended for other activities as deemed appropriate by the administration, but not to exceed two 2 activities per year. A teacher that voluntarily exceeds the two days at the request of the administration, will be compensated by PDC points. Dismissal before Christmas and Thanksgiving will be no less than one day prior to the said holiday. Plan Time - Full-time certified classroom instructors at the elementary level shall have a planning time of at least (40) forty minutes per day. Full-time certified classroom instructors at the Middle School/High School shall have a minimum of (210) two hundred ten minutes of planning time per week. (New 20-21)
