The School Day. Basically, the professional job consists of the following fundamental obligations and responsibilities, set within the context of the school day as practiced according to administrative policy. The normal duty day for teachers involved in regular classroom instruction, including all special teachers, shall be four hundred fifty (450) minutes, including the lunch period, and shall be distributed as follows:
The School Day. 1. A teacher shall recognize his obligation to be prepared to meet his classes, shall arrive in sufficient time to be prepared to meet his responsibilities to his classes, and remain for a reasonable amount of time after the close of the pupil's day, or after his last teaching assignment to make suitable preparation. The School Day. 10.1 The duration of a full school day, including fifteen (15) minutes mid-morning break but excluding mid-day break shall be of 5.5 hours a day in schools within the Early and Junior Years cycles (i.e. 27.5 hours per week on a five-day week). Provided that the mid-day break shall be of thirty (30) minutes duration . Provided further that all working/school days shall be full days except the first two (2) working days before the fourth Monday of September (preparation days for teaching grades) and as from the first working /school day in June till the 6th of July. The duration of a half school day, including fifteen (15) minutes mid- morning break shall be of 3.75 hours per day in Early, Junior and Secondary Years cycles (i.e 18.75 hours per week on a five-day week).
The School Day. The Board shall recognize the following right and responsibilities of teachers as it sets the schedules for the school day: A teacher shall be required to report for duty no earlier than five minutes before the start of the student school day (7:55 a.m.) and remain no longer than fifteen minutes after the end of the student day (3:15 p.m.) except for parent or professional meetings. On Fridays and days vacation begin, teachers may leave their respective buildings as soon as the busses have left. A teacher shall have a thirty (30) minute lunch period, free from duty, unless an emergency otherwise requires. In the event a teacher is called to assume an emergency responsibility, said teacher shall be compensated at the rate defined in Section 15.8 or they shall be given compensation time. In grades 7-12 the teacher workday shall include not more than six (6) teaching periods. A teacher shall be expected to attend all regularly scheduled professional meetings (e.g., building meetings, institutes, and professional organization meetings). The Board and the Association agree that some supervisory responsibilities shared among the teachers on an equitable basis are necessary at student functions. The Principal shall determine to which of those events teacher attendance is expected, which are eligible for extra compensation, and from which teachers may be excused. Assignments which are beyond this description of the school day and which are in excess of the basic professional responsibility shall be compensated in accordance with the extra-pay (for extra-duty) policy in the Salary Schedule. When an extended school day program is in existence, the employee involved shall not be required to be on duty longer than would be expected under the regular school program.
The School Day. 1. The advised arriving and leaving times for all teachers shall be thirty (30) minutes prior to their first assignment and following their last teaching assignment. When an administrator notifies a teacher in writing of a parent request for a meeting or conference, the teacher shall, within three (3) school days, meet with the parent or have scheduled a meeting for a later date and notify the administrator of the scheduled meeting. If a mutually acceptable date cannot be reached, the administrator shall, within the next five (5) school days, establish a meeting date and time during the teacher’s work day or within thirty minutes before or after the work day.

The School Day. (212) The Board and the Association recognize that a teaching assignment involves classroom instruction time, planning and conference time, general supervision of students’ time, lunch time, and travel time for those with an assignment in more than one building in one day. Teachers who travel as a part of their assignment shall be compensated for mileage at the IRS rate per mile in accordance with procedures established by the Business Office. If a teacher believes that their prep time or duty free lunch is not provided in their original schedule, upon notification, administration will meet with the Association and building principal to discuss the situation and seek resolution.
The School Day. Definition - The normal in-school workday shall be eight (8) hours, including lunch period. The Board shall have the right to determine the number of minutes, the number of periods, and the length of each period within the normal duty day of 8 hours. The duty day may be extended to include open houses, parent-teacher conferences, student educational progress meetings, and faculty meetings. The duty day may also be extended for other activities as deemed appropriate by the administration, but not to exceed two 2 activities per year. A teacher that voluntarily exceeds the two days at the request of the administration, will be compensated by PDC points. (July 2015) Teachers shall report to duty at the beginning of any non-student contract day as determined by the board and administration and shall remain on duty until the close of any given non-student contract day as determined by the board and administration. Teachers may leave immediately after school is dismissed before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter holidays. Dismissal before Christmas and Thanksgiving will be no less than one day prior to the said holiday. Plan Time - Full-time certified classroom instructors at the elementary level shall have a planning time of at least (40) forty minutes per day. Full-time certified classroom instructors at the Middle School/High School shall have a minimum of (210) two hundred ten minutes of planning time per week. (New 20-21)
The School Day. The elementary schools have a minimum of five and one-half instructional hours per day for Full-Day Kindergarten and Grades 1 - 5. The time is as follows: All Day Kdg. & Grades 1 - 5 9:10 - 3:40 (45 minute lunch/recess) Children may enter the building at 8:50 a.m. Please do not bring children to school any earlier than 8:50 a.m. No supervision is available before 8:50 a.m.
The School Day. To assist the students who have to take public transport, school will start later than normal and each student will have an individual invitation of a time and a room to attend. This should mean that there are less people travelling on the buses, thus minimising the risk to them. The Classroom We are limiting the number of students in each class room to 9 students to ensure that their seats are two metres apart. The impact of this is that we cannot physically accommodate all students in the school at once. Students are expected to be in full school uniform. In the classroom we are following national guidelines around hygiene: – Regular hand washing will be compulsory. Hand sanitiser will be available to be used at the start and end of each lesson. – Door handles and equipment will be cleaned on a regular basis.
