Temporary Upgrades Clause Examples
Temporary Upgrades. In the event that an employee is temporarily assigned to perform work for a period of at least one (1) hour and not for purposes of training, in a higher classification or classifications than that to which he/she is permanently assigned, in or outside the bargaining unit, the employee shall be paid a premium of five percent (5%) of his/her basic rate per hour for each classification level higher than the employee’s classification for all hours worked with a minimum credit of two (2) hours. This clause shall not be used for the purpose of reducing the number of employees in the job classifications to which such employee is being upgraded. At the time of assignment to a higher classification, an employee shall be verbally advised of his/her temporary upgrading.
Temporary Upgrades. (1) An employee (non-supervisory) assigned to work in a bargaining unit Lead classification is paid for time worked in the Lead classification, provided that the time worked is not less than two consecutive hours in the pay period.
(2) Assignment to classifications for a period in excess of fifteen working days in a calendar month shall require a Personnel Action initiated by the Plant Manager with appropriate approval.
Temporary Upgrades. (a) Wherever an employee is assigned a task in a classification with a higher rate of pay, the Employer agrees to pay an additional two dollars ($2.00) per hour, with a minimum credit of two (2) hours.
(b) Where the employee is designated by the Company to act temporarily in a supervisory position not covered by this Agreement, the employee so designated shall be entitled to the upgrading set out in 14.9 (a).
(c) Where the employee is assigned to train another employee, the employee so assigned shall be entitled to the upgrading set out in 14.9 (a).
14.9.1 Without their consent, no employee shall be permanently transferred or assigned to a position outside the bargaining unit and the employee will not be penalized for such refusal.
Temporary Upgrades. When an employee works in a higher rated classification for four (4) or more consecutive hours, he will receive the next step-up rate of pay in the higher rated classification for all hours worked.
Temporary Upgrades. Employees accepting a written offer of an acting position on a temporary basis that is at a higher pay grade shall have their salary computed in accordance with Article 11, Section F. Offers of temporary upgrades shall be placed in writing by the supervisor to employees on the basis of qualifications. An employee will assume responsibility for all duties of the position and work in the position at least fifteen (15) consecutive working days. After the employee has worked fifteen (15) consecutive working days in the position, they shall be paid retroactively to the first day the employee assumes the responsibilities of the position. An employee temporarily placed outside of the bargaining unit shall be entitled to return to the position previously held and shall accrue benefits and seniority as if they were in the bargaining unit during this temporary upgrade.
Temporary Upgrades. Section 1. A Temporary Upgrade is when a member is temporarily assigned to a classification higher than the member’s regular classification. When in a Temporary Upgrade, the member shall be paid an additional percentage consistent with the promotional increase in Article 23 for the duration they are working in a higher classification. This additional compensation shall be paid to the employee in the paycheck covering the period in which the employee served in the higher classification.
Section 2. Temporary Upgrades shall be first offered to those on the promotional list for the position. If no one on the promotional list accepts the Temporary Upgrade, then the Temporary Upgrade shall be offered to those members that have completed position specific task books and are approved for Temporary Upgrades, as provided for below. Temporary Upgrades shall be on a rotating basis, beginning with the highest scoring person on the list and working down each list. Members on-duty are eligible for a Temporary Upgrade so long as such Temporary Upgrade will not cause overtime at a lower rank or classification.
Section 3. The City has the right to use Temporary Upgrades in lieu of overtime to maintain minimum staffing levels. At any time if minimum staffing falls below the levels provided for in Article 37, future positions will be filled rank for rank. No previously scheduled Temporary Upgrades will be cancelled, if scheduled within seventy-two (72) hours of the beginning of the shift for which the Temporary Upgrade is needed.
Section 4. With shift supervisor approval, a member on the same shift and at the same station may temporarily downgrade so that another member may temporarily upgrade for training purposes. However, the temporarily upgraded employee shall not receive any increase in pay.
Section 5. If there are two (2) people holding the same rank on the same apparatus, the person scheduled to be in charge of the apparatus shall be in charge.
Section 6. Members eligible for a Temporary Upgrade may be temporarily assigned to another shift for the duration of their Temporary Upgrade, notwithstanding the requirements contained in Article 40, relating to shift changes.

Temporary Upgrades. Interim pay: When an employee is appointed to fill in a vacant position in a higher classification that employee will receive an additional 20% above their normal pay rate for all time worked in that status for the first 90 calendar days of appointment. After 90 calendar days the employee will receive 25% above their normal pay rate. Acting Pay: When an employee is temporarily assigned to perform the duties of a position in a higher classification for more than 15 consecutive calendar days they will be paid 10% above their normal pay rate for all time worked in that status.
Temporary Upgrades. A. Employees who are temporarily promoted to positions within the bargaining unit are eligible for overtime in their upgraded position. Such employees will be considered for overtime in the temporary assignment before employees from outside the group. They will not normally be considered for overtime in their regular classification.
B. For periods involving upgrades of two (2) weeks or less, such employees may be scheduled for overtime on those days they are not acting in the upgraded status (normally their first or second day of rest) providing the master list for the respective seniority group has been exhausted.
C. For periods involving upgrades of more than two (2) consecutive weeks or less than thirty (30) days, employees who are temporarily promoted to positions outside the bargaining unit (upgrade) will not be considered for overtime during such periods except for emergency conditions.
D. Employees who have been temporarily upgraded in excess of thirty (30) days will be removed from the group overtime lists. Upon return such employees will be given the average overtime hours of the group as of the week that they return.
Temporary Upgrades. In the event that an employee is temporarily assigned to perform work for a period of more than one (1) hour, and not for purposes of training, in a higher classification than that to which he/she is permanently assigned, in or outside the bargaining unit, the employee shall be paid one dollar ($1.00) per hour for each wage group above the group to which the employee is assigned to a maximum rate of four dollars ($4.00) per hour for all hours worked with a minimum credit of two (2) hours. This clause shall not be used for the purpose of reducing the number of employees in the job classifications to which such employee is being upgraded. At the time of assignment to a higher classification, an employee shall be verbally advised of his/her temporary upgrading.
Temporary Upgrades. The University may assign to an employee duties from a higher job classification for a period not to exceed six (6) months. For the duration of such a temporary assignment, the employee shall receive additional compensation equal to the pay range of the higher classification.
