TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES. (1-17-12) 1105 SP11 R05 Revise the 2012 Standard Specifications as follows: Page 11-5, Article 1105-6 Measurement and Payment, add the following paragraph after line 24: Partial payments will be made on each payment estimate based on the following: 50% of the contract lump sum price bid will be paid on the first monthly estimate and the remaining 50% of the contract lump sum price bid will be paid on each subsequent estimate based on the percent of the project completed.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES. Contractor, at its own expense, shall furnish and deploy temporary traffic control signs and devices in accordance with the provisions of the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MMUTCD) when the Work occurs on or adjacent to any street, alley or public place. Contractor shall, at Contractor’s own cost and expense, furnish and erect such barricades, fences, lights and danger signals, and shall take such other precautionary measures for the protection of persons and property and of the work as is necessary. A sufficient number of devices shall be erected to keep vehicles from driving into the work zone and to warn pedestrians and children of the existence of the Work. Contractor shall be responsible for all damages, costs to repair, fees or other losses due to failure of barricades, signs, or lights. Contractor shall be solely responsible for the maintenance of barricades, signs and devices.
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES. No funds shall be approved for expenditure on any Federal-aid highway, or highway affected under chapter 2, unless proper temporary traf- fic control devices to improve safety in work zones will be installed and maintained during construction, utility, and maintenance oper- ations on that portion of the highway with re- spect to which such expenditures are to be made. Installation and maintenance of the de- vices shall be in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
