Teaching and Research Academics. A teaching and research academic will have a minimum of 50 days (equivalent to ten weeks) free from Teaching Delivery and Teaching Related duties each year, preferably allocated in blocks of weeks. Allocations will be determined by the Head of School after consultation with the Staff Member on the annual research plan provided by the Staff Member as per clause 22.3.8. A teaching and research academic will be allocated a workload which will vary according to the mix of research and other academic duties. The workload will consist of: Teaching Delivery and Teaching-related duties within a range of 30 to 60% of available work hours; Research within a range of 20 to 50% of available work hours;

The band of time allocated for research will be within 20% to 30% with the balance of hours allocated to collegial, administrative and professional activities. An Academic Staff Member’s Workload allocation to research is subject to the ongoing performance requirements for that activity. Higher allocations may be expected if appropriate skills and performance are demonstrated and funding of the activities is available.
