TEACHERS' RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. A. Pursuant to Act 379 of the Public Acts of 1965, the Board hereby agrees that every member of the Association shall have the right to organize, join, and support the Association for the purpose of engaging in collective bargaining and negotiations, or to refrain from such activities.
TEACHERS' RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. A. Statutory Rights. Pursuant to the Michigan Public Employment Relations Act, MCL 423.211et seq. as amended, the Board agrees that every teacher employed by the Board shall have the right to freely organize, join, and support the Association for the purpose of engaging in collective bargaining or negotiations or other legally permissible concerted activities for mutual aid and protection, or to refrain therefrom as provided by law. The Board and the Association agree that neither will, directly or indirectly discourage or deprive or coerce any teacher in the enjoyment of any rights conferred by the Michigan Public Employment Relations Act, MCL 423.211 et seq. or the laws of Michigan and the Constitution of Michigan and the United States, discriminate against any teacher with respect to wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment by reason of the teacher's membership or non-membership in the Association, the teacher's participation in any activities of the Association, collective professional negotiations with the Board, the teacher's institution of any grievance, complaint or proceeding pursuant to this Agreement, or otherwise to any terms and conditions of employment.

TEACHERS' RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. A. No teacher shall be warned (either verbally or in writing), reprimanded, docked, or suspended without just cause. A teacher shall be entitled to have present a representative of the Association during any disciplinary action when such action will become part of the teacher's personnel file. The Board subscribes to the concept of progressive discipline. The progressive discipline steps include verbal warning, written warning, suspension with or without pay and discharge. The steps may vary depending on the seriousness of the offense.

TEACHERS' RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. A. Teacher Workday Teachers shall be in their assigned areas as designated by the building principal. Teachers may leave the assigned building during the day upon proper notification of the building principal or person(s) delegated by him for this purpose. Appropriate entries shall be made in a register provided by the Board of Education upon departure from and return to the school building. In no event, shall any teacher leave his/her assigned duty station during the periods for which he has been assigned by his/her supervisor unless specific approval has been given. On teacher workdays, when pupils are not in attendance, the building principal has the option to dismiss teachers before three (3) p.m. as long as the requirements established for the day are completed. The workday shall be seven hours and twenty minutes per day. The workday for teachers shall be from 7:40 a.m. to 3:00
