Teacher Librarians. Teacher Librarians are individuals employed by the Muscatine Community School District who are certified teacher librarians by the Iowa State Department of Education.

Teacher Librarians. The Teacher Librarian will continue to manage the library budget. Elementary Teacher Librarians shall be assigned, at each elementary school, up to 26 thirty (30) minute sections in a normal week. When the load reaches 27 sections per week, an itinerant Teacher Librarian will be assigned to the building.
Teacher Librarians. Site administrators, central administrators, and teacher librarians, in consultation with the UBC, are responsible for establishing the schedules for teacher librarians, including adequate transition time between classes. Consideration shall be given to the developmental needs of each grade level taught.
Teacher Librarians. School libraries shall remain closed to in-person students. Teacher librarians shall work in person at school sites and may provide books to students and classrooms by delivering books and materials in such a manner as to maintain the stability of in-person stable groups. Any returned materials shall be cleaned prior to being placed back in circulation. The library shall be closed to in-person meetings, unless cleaned after each use.
Teacher Librarians. 7.17A Teacher Librarian Position Defined: The Teacher Librarian position provides services in the areas of 1) teaching and learning and 2) instructional resources.

Teacher Librarians. The number of FTE Teacher Librarians in the system shall be calculated on the basis of one point six (1.6) Teacher Librarians per one thousand (1 000) FTE students as determined in Article 25.01.
Teacher Librarians. That Teacher Librarian is added to the table currently in Section O (“Structural Matters” p.80) as a “preferred local designation” in the Classroom Teacher classification. That resource management time is guaranteed for Teacher Librarians. Resource management time is additional to non-teaching/release time. It is fundamental to the Teacher Librarian’s role and is essential for management, facilitation and development of the library’s resources. A minimum 7 hours of administrative times (in usable blocks) should be allocated when classes/organised groups are not scheduled with the teacher librarian. The following activities may constitute resource management activities: Development, documentation and review of library resource centre policies to reflect school and system priorities Collection analysis, collection development and “weeding” to ensure the library collection meets the needs of the school community Development and administration of resource budgets and reporting to school administration Employment of strategies to maximize access to print and electronic resources Day-to-day administration of the collection (loans, returns, losses) Original cataloguing Shelving, SCIS cataloguing, book covering, resource repairs (when no library assistant or volunteer support is available) Furthermore, Teacher Librarians require confirmation that: They are to be allocated a lunch break of the same duration as other teachers When the library is open at lunchtime the duty should be shared equitably amongst all staff on the playground duty roster Teacher Librarians are not to be removed from their teaching or administrative duties for the purpose of relief teaching during teacher absence.

Staffing for Teacher Librarians shall remain minimally at the District’s 2015-2016 staffing level for the duration of the 2016-2019 agreement. This agreement shall not be construed to grant these positions priority over other certificated staff in the event of a financial condition triggering the provisions of Article IX - Employee Staff, Reduction and Recall. For those who travel one 30 minute class will be scheduled to accommodate travel to each site and counts as a section.
