Tack Coat. Uniformly spray tack coat when placing HMA on paved surfaces. Apply tack coat only to areas to be paved in the same day. Blot areas showing an excess of tack coat with sand or other similar material. Remove blotting material before paving. Ensure that the material is not streaked or ribboned. Before paving, allow tack coat to cure to a condition that is tacky to the touch.
Tack Coat. When the same storage facility is utilized for Bituminous Materials to be used in Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete, Bituminous Tack Coat, and/or Surface Treatment, the quantity used for Tack Coat shall be converted to tons (megagrams) and deducted from the quantities for the Bituminous Material used in the Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete and Surface Treatment.
Tack Coat. A. Materials shall conform to the requirements below. For tack coats, a rapid curing cut-back, a cationic emulsified asphalt (CSS-1 or -1h), or an anionic emulsified asphalt (SS-1 or -1h) will be used. Dependent upon the texture of the base and the season of the year that the work is being performed, the Engineer will select the particular grade of the type of asphalt material that will be used. Samples of asphalt material will be tested according to applicable AASHTO or ASTM methods.

Furnish CSS-1H, SS-1H, or a PG binder with a minimum high-temperature grade of PG 58 for tack coat binder in accordance with Item 300, “Asphalts, Oils, and Emulsions.” Specialized tack coat materials listed on the Department’s MPL are allowed or required when shown on the plans. Do not dilute emulsified asphalts at the terminal, in the field, or at any other location before use.
Tack Coat. A tack coat of emulsified asphalt, RS-1, Item #409.15 shall be applied to any existing pavement at a rate of approximately 0.025 G/SY, and on milled pavement approximately 0.05 G/SY, prior to placing a new course. A fog coat of emulsified asphalt shall be applied between shim / intermediate course and the surface course, at a rate not to exceed 0.025 G/SY. Other sign legends may be required. The Contractor shall conduct their operations in such a manner that the roadway will not be restricted to one lane for more than 800 m [2,500 ft] at each work area. To encourage quality paving in warm-weather conditions, the length can be extended to 4,000 ft depending on the traffic impacts. Where more than one work area restricts traffic to one lane operation, these work areas shall be separated by at least 1.6 km [1 mile] of two way operation. Temporary Centerline A temporary centerline shall be placed each day on all new pavement to be used by traffic. The temporary centerline, when specified of reflectorized traffic paint, shall conform to the standard marking patterns used for permanent markings. Tack Coat. The Applicant will be required to place a tack coat along the exposed vertical edges of asphalt concrete with Type RC of MC 70-250 bituminous tack coat when installing bituminous surfaces.
Tack Coat. Prior to the placement of surface course asphalt, a tack coat shall be applied over the entire surface of the base course asphalt, at the Owner's expense. The Owner shall clean the base course asphalt to the Town’s satisfaction prior to the placement of the tack coat.
