Summer Vacation. (a) Every effort shall be made to grant vacation in one continuous period. If the Employee wishes, at least two (2) weeks shall be given during the summer vacation period (June 15th - September 15th). Where at least two (2) consecutive weeks are granted, two (2) regularly scheduled days off shall be given immediately preceding or following the vacation unless otherwise agreed.

Summer Vacation. (a) The vacation year for calculation and scheduling purposes, the plant shutdown, and vacation entitlement shall be as per Article 17.01 of the Agreement. Management of the Oshawa plant will advise their employees by April 30th of the plant summer vacation shutdown. (b) Employees who are scheduled to remain on duty during any of the plant shutdown or who have vacation entitlement in excess of two (2) weeks will be allowed their vacation at a mutually convenient time. The Company will not unreasonably deny any such requests. Responses will be in writing and the Union will receive copies of all requests and responses. Any denial will include an explanation and alternative dates for the employee’s consideration. (c) Vacation requests for the months of June, July and August must be submitted to the employee’s supervisor between April 1st and May 5th and will be considered on a seniority basis. All other requests for the months of June, July and August received after May 5th will be on a first come first serve basis. (d) Vacation requests for the remainder of the vacation year must be submitted to the employee’s supervisor between June 1st and June 30th, and will be considered on a seniority basis. All other requests received after June 30th, will be on a first come first serve basis.

Summer Vacation. Summer vacations may be taken after the last teacher contract day in the Spring and until ten (10) working days before the first day of student attendance in the Fall, effective Summer 2023.

Summer Vacation weeks during the children’s summer vacation from school. However, if none of the children is enrolled in school, this summer visitation shall be taken during the months of June, July and August, until such time as one of the children begins to attend school.
