Common use of Stop Order Clause in Contracts

Stop Order. Where a contractor or subcontractor engages in the performance of any public work contract without having been registered in violation of California Labor Code sections 1725.5 or 1771.1, the Labor Commissioner must issue and serve a stop order prohibiting the use of the unregistered contractor or subcontractor on ALL public works until the unregistered contractor or subcontractor is registered. Failure to observe a stop order is a misdemeanor.
