Steps of the Procedure. The grievant shall discuss the grievance informally with his/her immediate supervisor, provided the grievance is not a discrimination or retaliation claim against that supervisor, and try to work out a satisfactory solution in COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT SAN FRANCISCO DEPUTY SHERIFFS’ ASSOCIATION UNIT 12A JULY 1, 200912 – JUNE 30, 20124 an informal manner as soon as possible, but in no case later than ten (10) calendar days from the date of the occurrence of the act or the date the grievant might reasonably have been expected to have learned of the alleged violation being grieved. The grievant may have an Association representative present. 31. a. Step 1. If the grievance is not resolved within seven (7) calendar days after contact with the immediate supervisor, the grievant will submit the grievance in writing to the facility or division commander no later than seventeen (17) calendar days of the facts or event giving rise to the grievance. The grievance will be submitted on a mutually agreeable grievance form. The grievance will set forth the facts of the grievance, the terms and conditions of the Agreement claimed to have been violated, misapplied or misinterpreted, and the remedy or solution being sought by the grievant.
