Common use of State-Specific Notifications Clause in Contracts

State-Specific Notifications. The following notification is provided to you pursuant to certain state laws regarding invention assignments by employees. (I) FOR ANY TIME DURING WHICH YOU ARE EMPLOYED IN THE STATES OF CALIFORNIA, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, KANSAS, MINNESOTA, NEW JERSEY, NORTH CAROLINA, UTAH OR WASHINGTON BY VERIZON OR ANY RELATED COMPANY, THIS IS TO NOTIFY you, in accordance with the laws of the aforementioned states, that this Agreement does not require you to assign or offer to assign to Verizon or any Related Company any invention that you developed entirely on your own time without using the equipment, supplies, facilities or trade secret information of Verizon or a Related Company except for those inventions that either: (1) Relate at the time of conception or reduction to practice of the invention to the business, or actual or demonstrably anticipated research or development, of Verizon or a Related Company; or (2) Result from any work performed by you for Verizon or a Related Company. (II) You are not required to assign an invention that is excluded from assignment in part (I) to Verizon or a Related Company during the time you are employed in the states noted above. (III) The exclusion of part (I) does not apply to any patent or invention covered by a contract between Verizon or a Related Company and the United States or any of its agencies requiring full title to such patent or invention to be in the United States.
